Do not panic, I repeat do not panic. I have not been living under a rock for the past decade or so. I promise you, however I have never tried a MAC lipstick before so this review will be slightly strange I guess. I won’t be able to compare this lipstick to other MAC lipsticks, but I will be able to talk about it in general and also from the perspective of a first time MAC lipstick user. I have used MAC before a few times, albeit it was not the best experience.
I have been meaning to try MAC lipsticks for some time now, however I strongly dislike the MAC counters. I always had a bad experience, especially in airports where their consultants would just not leave me alone and tried to force me to buy products that would make me look like them – that was a bad thing in this case. You would think that a beauty consultant would know how to apply her foundation, but no, they looked like they had been painted over and I am not trying to be mean. For me foundation is a product that no one needs to be able to spot from 5 meters away!
Anyway, going back to the lipstick. The packaging is absolutely beautiful and I am sort of happy it is not the classic MAC packaging. It gives the product more personality and makes it stand out from the rest. The colour of the product is the perfect nude. I received quite a lot of compliments while wearing it and some people wondered what I had done to my lips. The colour is so similar to my natural one even though when I swatched it on my hand it looked slightly on the brown side. However, the product offered my lips a slight shine and intensified the colour. Now, I really wished I had not hesitated to get a new one when at the airport this past weekend. I will definitely get a new colour to compared it to as like I said, this one was too similar to my own to really notice a great difference other than the fact that it made the lips stand out more and gave them a slightly, elegant shine.
As for the formula, well you have to build it a little which I do not mind, but at the same time I find disappointing as I know that there are many other products out there that cost less and that have great pigmentation. On the other hand, the lipsticks looks nice and feels incredibly comfortable on the lips.
Overall, I found the MAC Liptensity Lipstick to be an interesting product however I find it hard at this time to make up my mind without testing another lipstick of a different colour. All I know is that I will continue wearing it as I love the way it makes my lips look, but it all boils down to personal preference.
Have you tried any of the MAC Liptensity Lipsticks?
