Boots UK No7 Beauty Advent Calendar Review

boots no7 beauty advent calendar

The No7 Beauty Advent Calendar from Boots UK is perhaps one of the most popular beauty advent calendars ever created, at least that seems to be the case in the UK. This calendar usually has a humongous waiting list and for the first time ever I decided to see for myself what the fuss is about.

I started using No7 beauty products for the first time this year and I cannot say that I was not impressed. After having a positive experience with the products and seeing just how popular the beauty advent calendar is, I decided to also give it a try.

Here are my thoughts.

No7 Beauty Advent Calendar Review

Delivery

The beauty advent calendar from No7 was promptly delivered in a separate box than the one containing the rest of my order. The calendar arrived in one piece as the box was custom made to fit the calendar.

The No7 Beauty Advent Calendar from Boots UK has to be the lightest calendar I ever purchased. This calendar did not weight more than a calendar containing chocolates which was a bit of s shock given just how heavy (almost 11kg!) some of the others were.

The No7 Advent Calendar is also one of the smallest advent calendars I have ever seen, especially in the Beauty space. However, I loved that the calendar opened up like a book and the so called clasp was also made of card, just like the rest of the box. On the other hand, the items were all placed in plastic trays which not only are not eco friendly, but also make it very difficult to get some of them items out. In addition, I also found that opening some of the doors was a bit difficult without ripping them, but even if I did manage to do that, I then struggled to get the items out.

This is one calendar you definitely won’t want to keep and it cannot really be reused. The box is came in, now that can be reused if you have something small to mail.

I was already familiar with the list of contents before purchasing the calendar. I might have not known what each product looked like, but it was a good line up in theory. I knew that the calendar was full of products that I had yet to try. I also knew that the sizes of the products were very small. I really did know that! However, when it came down to it, when I actually saw the products for the first time, I cannot say that I was not a bit shocked by just how small some of them were. Despite this, I was not disappointed. It was still a good occasion to try out some new products from a brand that everyone seems to love and that has yet to disappoint me for that matter.

However, I cannot say that everything was perfect. While I know that some people like the fact that were two vouchers included, one that I honestly did not get, I am not as happy. The voucher for the Lash Serum I honestly do not get. That is not a product that comes in different shades as the eye shadow for which they have also included a voucher… But anyway, as someone who does not have access to a Boots store for the time being, I was not very happy about the vouchers.  Leaving aside my situation, in general it seems like a pretty shitty thing to not being able to use the vouchers online. Yes, that is right. The vouchers can only be used in store. I guess that every single one of the owners of such a calendar will visit a Boots store in the next few months at least once with it being a pharmacy and all, but almost every single voucher on Earth can now be used online as long as the store delivers.

Other than the size of some the items and the two vouchers, I don’t have many complaints. Sure, the full sized products did end up being some of the few products from No7 that I do own and the biggest product is a pack of face wipes, but other than that the calendar is okay. You read that right, I did say okay despite all my complaints. It is a good set of samples to try out the No7 range before making a purchase. However, this calendar does not impress at all. There is absolutely nothing about it that makes me want to get another one ever again. It will be nice to play with it as I am pretty new to the brand, but other than that…thank you, next?

Price and Value

The calendar was priced at £42, however the value based on full sized products is reportedly £173.50 which means that this calendar was quite the bargain.

The calendar is now sold out.

These are just my thoughts. I am a huge fan of Boots and shop there often. Like I mentioned above several times, I am also a fan of No7 as a brand. It has yet to disappoint me in terms of quality and such. But I do not really get the huge waiting list. I really do not. This calendar seems like a product that one buys out of custom rather than excitement. There are other options out there at this price range that at least for me seem way more exciting. Hope I haven’t offended anyone. These are just my unfiltered thoughts and you know me, I am always going to say it as I see it. No BS. But this is just an opinion so do keep that in mind. You do not have to agree with me.
