IGK Mistress Hydrating Balm

You already know this, but here it is again – I have incredibly soft hair and I desperately need something to give me a bit more volume. I tried tens if not hundreds of products and they usually let me know when I need them the most, if they even work at all. Not even hairdressers can deal with my hair at times, Yes, it is that bad! However, taking care of your hair is not all about giving it more volume, bu also about making it more manageable and ensuring its health. That is where the Mistress Hydrating Balm from IGK comes into play.

The IGK Mistress Hydrating balm is one of the first products I tried from the brand some years ago. I have used it ever since then. The reason why I am writing this article now is because, as some of you probably already guessed, the product was included as the 11th product in the Sephora Christmas Favourites beauty advent calendar.

IGK Mistress Hydrating Balm Review

The IGK Mistress Hydrating Balm is a post-shampooing product which you need to apply on wet hair as you do when it comes to such products. The application is very similar to the one of the Wonder Balm from Percy and Reed, however the consistency of this balm is a bit more runny. It is not necessary a bad thing, but you need to be a bit more careful with your tube and when getting the product out of its tube.

Okay, but what is this product really? This Mistress Hydrating Balm from IGK is meant to improve hair hydration and reduce frizz,

Does it do that?

I would say so, yes. Honestly I am quite impressed with the results I have been getting from this product. My hair has never looked healthier and more alive. My strands are simply more full of life and my hair is overall less dry and frizzy. You might achieve similar results to some extent with other conditioning products, however there is something more that goes on here.

The IGK Mistress Hydrating Balm, unlike any other products of its kind that I tried before, does not make my hair softer than it already is. That is just unheard of. Conditioning products make my hair super soft, but this one does not. While the balm does not thicken my hair nor makes it stronger, it does not make it softer either.

Some ingredients that really make this product do what it does include coconut oil, argan oil and shea butter.

Some other things you need to know is that this product is paraben, alcohol, sulphate free.

There is not much else I can say about IGK Mistress Hydrating Balm. This is a product that I really like and yet another reason why I am first in line to try new IGK products. Okay, not first, but whenever I can, I get some more products. As a side note, here is another predict that I like – Smoke and Mirrors Cleansing Oil. Overall, I recommend you try this product if you want to improve your hair hydration without making your hair softer and flat.
