OMG guys! I cannot believe that I have been working on this project for over two years. It is incredible how fast time flies.
I started blogging back in 2011 when I needed an escape from my day to day life. That project is now going major restructuring and hopefully I will get back to it one day. That is a story for another time. When I started BlushSuede things were very much different, in fact everything about this blog is way different.
I started BlushSuede as a complementary project to something that is also on hiatus now. I was doing my masters and working on a business, but since I did not want my love for beauty make me lose focus, I decided to also create this blog. The idea was to focus on products and beauty tips and tricks that make the lives of career/entrepreneurial women (overall boss ladies) easier. I don’t think I did a good job at that, but hopefully will do so in this upcoming year. However, the environment in which I started this blog was very different from the one back in 2011. The competition is way higher nowadays, getting noticed takes time and patience and yet you managed to find me and I somehow managed to convince you to trust me, my judgement and recommendations. So the fact that you believe in me despite all the noise around us, for me is mind-blowing and I cannot thank you enough for it.
Highlights of this past year in blogging:
- getting my first referral bonus ever
- getting my first commission on a sale ever
- growing from 100+ visits per month to 3000+
- experiencing month on month growth
- receiving more emails with questions from you guys than ever before.
Despite what some might think, the last bit is honestly the best part of the entire year. Seeing the blog grow and the community grow and us getting to know each other better with every post and comment or email is the reason why I am doing this. Finding so many likeminded people is rare in a world that is so busy and noisy. I never did this for the money, in fact this is the first time I made any money from blogging despite being at it since 2011. I never minded and nothing has changed. However, I do appreciate you using my codes and/or links as they definitely helped me keep this blog afloat. Just to be clear, every penny that I ever made on this blog went back into it and it will continue to stay this way. Any additional income will go towards giveaways (which I know I have not done enough of) or the money will be donated. Just to reiterate, any commission I made is at no extra cost to you.
2020 is a year where transparency counts even more than before which I really appreciate. I have always been honest with you guys and I hope you were able to tell so. If there was a product I did not like, I made sure to let you know. If I received a PR sample and wrote a review, I did disclose it (to be fair, it happened only once this past year, but I did disclose it). Al article containing affiliate links have a disclaimer at the end and so on and do forth.
I know that this conversation moved from celebrating building this community alongside you for the past two years to current affairs (can well them that?), but I felt that it was a good opportunity to tackle the subject on this occasion.
I think I am going to shut up now or well, soon. This article really was just about me thanking you for your support and your constant encouragement, but as always I did go on a bit of a tangent. Before I end this post, I just want to let you know that I do plan on creating more content, more helpful content and that any feedback is appreciated at any time. If there is something you want to see on here or if there is something you dislike/hate, I am always open to suggestions because BlushSuede is not just about me, but about all of us. I also know that I said that it was something I created for boss ladies or at least that was the intention, but I do not discriminate so if you are non binary or male, you are also welcome here. All of you are welcome here and will be treated with the same level of respect as everyone else. Always. I hope you never think otherwise.
The last thing I do want to mention is that the way I spend my time is slightly different these days, but I will try my best to always check in even if I cannot post daily or as frequently as I used to. But my goal for this 3rd year in the life of BlushSuede is to be more present than ever before.
If you made it this far, I am honestly impressed. This was quite the story, but I appreciate it.
Thank you all again and hope to keep seeing you around and have your support in this new chapter of BlushSuede.
Happy 2nd birthday!
