Manuka Honey and the Multipurpose Dr Organic Rescue Cream

I am super excited when it comes to multipurpose products. I like the idea of having less products (despite being a small beauty hoarder). I totally believe that some face products can work wonders on your body – just think of J Lo and her use of La Mer, if the rumours are true. However, I really do not think body products should go on the face regardless of the situation. Double standards? Perhaps or perhaps not.

Anyway, I got the Manuka Honey Rescue Cream from Dr Organic in the Holland and Barrett beauty advent calendar and thought I would give it a try. But before we talk about the cream, let’s talk a bit of what Manuka Honey is actually good at.

In recent years, Manuka Honey has become one of those super ingredients due its researched and somehow researched and proved properties. Some of the properties that we care about the most in this case, are Manuka Honey’s ability to help with acne, heal wounds and overall its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. You can read more about this in this article. Whether these properties are real or not remains to be seen. I am not quick to believe that certain ingredients are incredibly useful so I always err on the side of caution. Do your research and be careful with your sources. Even some more academic sources can be less than trustworthy and at the end of the day, we always discover new things. So do not take anything as it is, that is all I am saying.

Okay, so the Manuka Honey reportedly has certain properties that make it worth your while. However, is the Dr Organic Cream something you should invest in?

Dr Organic Manuka Honey Multi Purpose Rescue Cream

The Manuka Honey Rescue Cream  is a multi purpose cream as previously hinted at. This means that this face cream can be used to help other parts of your body such as elbows, heels and whatnot. I have to admit that I was super excited about the idea and could not help but want to try this cream as soon as I got it.

However, the first time I opened the jar from Dr Organic, I was hit by this really gross scent. Okay, the scent is not really that gross, but it is kinda unpleasant and there is nothing wrong with my product. It is simply the way it smells because of the ingredient included. Sadly this scent was something that I could not handle from a distance so there was no way I would use the cream on my face. I did try it once for the sake of this review and I won’t do it again. I just cannot handle the scent. I am sorry.

The Rescue Cream from Dr Organic even though it is mainly a face cream seems a bit to thick to be used on the face, I found that the cream is greasy and does not absorb easily on my oily skin. That combined with the very unpleasant scent made me want to discard it, but luckily I remembered that it can be used for other parts of the body. So that is what I did.

I started using the Manuka Honey Rescue Cream from Dr Organic on my elbows, hands and heels. All of these parts can be a bit rough at times and my hands can even look like I suffered a burn due to the cold weather and different detergents and soaps. This is an ongoing problem I have been having since moving to the UK and it has not fully gone away not matter how many hand creams and treatments I used. Did the Manuka Honey cream help?

It actually did. The Manuka Honey took away some of the redness from my hands and even made the skin slightly softer and more hydrated. However, it did not help me get rid of the problem fully, not even temporarily the way some creams have managed to do in the past. But, ye other sis a but. Why do you even wonder? there is always a but where I am concerned.

The Manuka Honey Rescue Cream worked really well on my heels. My somewhat cracked heels started looking better soon after using the cram and with repeated use, the sin started looking pretty great, This is also a part of the body where the scent of the cream does not bother me as much.

So it worked out quite well, not? Well, not really. What? Yup, you read that right.

Despite the cream being effective and came in handy where certain parts of my body are concerned, I am still unable to get past the scent. The scent is truly that unpleasant as far as I am concerned, but then again my nose is incredibly sensitive to scents. But that is not what I want to be talking about here, not really.

The reason why the cream from Dr Organic did not convince me,  leaving aside the problems with the scent of the Manuka Honey, is the fact that cream is super greasy. I thought that my oily skin was the issue where absorption is concerned, but that is actually not the case. The cream did not absorb anywhere I tried to use it and it always left me with a greasy patches, a really greasy one at that. Sorry, but there is no way I am going to accept that – magic ingredient or not.

Speaking about magic ingredients, I honestly did no see anything different really. It was juts another product with a so called wonder ingredient. Maybe there is some merit to Manuka Honey in skincare, but I could not see it.
