Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder

It has been over a year since I first tried the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder and my thoughts might have changed since then. It happens, we are human after all. I decided to give the product another try as I am getting older, my time is more limited and my skin needs some extra help. My makeup is no exception. In fact, it is my makeup that needs some extra help the most thus why I decided to give the Laura Mercier powder another try. That and the fact that it was included in the ASOS Face and Body beauty Advent Calendar.

Let’s see what I think of the powder now…

The Laura Mercier translucent setting powder is a loose powder that acts as the final step in your makeup routine. The product is supposed to leave you with a silky matte layer that softly blurs the look of your fine lines and imperfections. Well, does it?

I am not normally one to reach out for powders. Many powders cause a bad case of flashback and make your face look cakey. That is not the look I am going for, far from it.

As you can imagine, it came as a complete surprise to me when I realised that Laura Mercier’s translucent setting powder does not do that. I know. I have seen all the good reviews, but I am not one to believe everything that I hear or read. Products that everyone is raving about are usually the ones I tend to like the least. Anyway, I am one of those that do not believe much until I try and see for myself.

Laura Mercier’s setting powder does not cause flashback so you can use it without having to worry about looking weird in photos. Furthermore, the finish is pretty nice. The powder does indeed leave you face looking smooth and airbrushed. It is like you have a very thin veil on top of your skin and it feels super nice to the touch.

The powder also helps with cases of extreme oiliness so yay for that! I am definitely one of those people. Also working full time plus overtime means that I don’t really get to redo my makeup, even if I had time I probably would not do it, not whilst at work anyway. For that reason, I needed a product that can help me look relatively presentable by the time I leave work. I would not want to scare the cab driver or anyone else for that matter *wink.

And the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder does indeed help. While after 12 hours, your skin might seem a bit oily and your makeup is no longer flawless, the results are really good actually. You might not look perfect, but your makeup still looks good. Not great, but good. The Laura Mercier does indeed help and that is my point.

Overall, the powder is a good product. I might have not enjoyed it as much when I first tried it, I admit that, but now it seems to be working quite nicely which I do appreciate it as I needed the help as I stated above. I am really glad that I gave this product another try and now I can honestly recommend it. Do not except miracles, but the translucent powder for Laura Mercier is actually really good.

Where can you buy the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder?

Please note that there is also a Glow version. Don’t mistake the two as they can be quite different, but in terms of packaging they are incredibly similar.

Have you tried the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder before?

    1. It did not work me either at first. When I first write the review more than a year ago, I thought this product was really not that good. However, I discovered now that it actually works. It does not keep all oiliness away true, but it is one of the best things I am using at the moment for this purpose. Everything else that I tried failed. I guess it depends on the your skin at a given time and how much oil you produce. Since going hard on HA, I am perhaps less oily and thus why the powder seems to work now when it did not before.

Hmm, I did not know they had a powder. I will look into it so thanks for the recommendation!
