No7 Beautifully Matte Mousse Foundation

beautifully matte mousse foundation NO7

Look, my first foundation review! I have written about some skin tints, such as this one from Glossier, but I do not think I ever talked about foundation on this blog before so this ought to be interesting. I do not even know what to start with, thus this awkward and long intro. Not longer than usual, but I feel it will become bigger if I do not stop now.

Anyway, as I was saying, today I want to review a foundation and that foundation is from No7, a Boots owned brand. This is definitely not the first foundation I have used, not by far, but interestingly enough I have been avoiding talking about these products on this blog. It was not on purpose though.

Here are my thoughts.

No7 Beautifully Matte Mousse Foundation Review

When I first got the Beautifully Matte Mousse Foundation I was certain that it would be yet another one of those that I would have to throw away. I looked at the colour and I was shocked to see how dark it was. I went with a very light shade and when I opened the jar, the shade seemed incredibly dark compared to what I thought I had chosen. I had to double check that the shade name was the right one twice as I could not believe it. But it was done, there was no returning it so I decided to try it anyway. There was nothing else I could have done with it.

It turns out that there was no reason to be worried. The shade is surprisingly not as dark as it seems in the pot. I went with ‘Cool Ivory’ and the name is pretty much appropriate when the foundation is applied. In the pot though, it seems way darker. ‘Cool Ivory’ turned out to be the right shade for my light skin and the shade is both beautiful and, like I mentioned previously, a very good fit for me when the foundation is blended out.

Okay, so let’s talk about the formula a bit. This is where thing get interesting. The No7 Beautifully Matte Mousse Foundation has one of the nicest and most interesting textures I have ever encountered in a foundation. The foundation from No7 is indeed very much like a mousse and it feels incredible on the skin. It is a bit weird at first and it takes me by surprise each time I use this product, but you get used to the texture. However, once applied you will be glad that you took a chance on this product. The mousse like texture makes this foundation easy to apply and blend. You can achieve a uniform finish quick and easy.

Not only does the foundation applies easily, but it also has a beautiful scent. Say goodbye to that foundation scent, this one smells like skincare. There is nothing perfume like about this foundation from No7, no. The Beautifully Matte Mousse Foundation from No7 smells like skincare.

All good so far, but is the foundation any good? How does it look on the face?

Beautiful. That is all I can say really. Not only is the No7 foundation easy to apply and smells incredible, but it actually looks pretty nice on the skin as well. Like mentioned above, the foundation helps you achieve a uniform look. The foundation is easy to blend and gives you a pretty good coverage. I would say that the coverage is medium. However, unlike other foundations, the skin does not feel cake-y nor does it flake. The foundation becomes one with the skin and you can achieve a natural look almost. And to use one of those classic teleshopping phrases that will make me sounds very sellsy, that is not all. The foundation is also pretty long lasting.

Now seriously folks, you know that I am not the kind of person to praise a bad product. If there is something negative to say about it, I will be the first to say it. I am 100% against BS. It is no wonder I annoy so many people! Anyway, the idea is that this No7 foundation is pretty incredible and I am not just saying this because I am being paid by the brand or because I would love to score a partnership. I would not mind one, but this article is not sponsored nor am I affiliated in any way, shape or form with Boots and the No7 brand. In fact, I have no partnerships whatsoever.

I discovered this foundation a few months ago when I was browsing the Boots website and I started buying No7 products. If I am not mistaken, this product was part of my first ever order from No7. I had no idea what I was getting myself into and now I am incredibly happy that I took the chance. This product is incredible and there is that.

Even if we look at the ingredients, there is not a lot to be concerned about. The foundation from No7 is Paraben, Sulphate, Alcohol free. The product does not contain any ingredients that are listed on that the EU considers that they could lead to allergic reactions and it does not impact fungal acne. The only thing that could be a concern for some of you is the use of silicones.

Furthermore, the No7 Beautifully Matte Mousse Foundation even contains some anti-ageing ingredients such as Ceramide 3, Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E).

But as always there are a few negative things. That kinda goes without saying. Every-single product has something, some a little something and others a bigger something. This one is has a something of the bigger variety. The foundation comes in three shades. I remember seeing more shades when I purchased it though so not sure what happened. Boots might have removed some of the shades when they switched from glass to plastic pots as far as my research shown. That is a pity though. It truly is.

Overall, the No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation is a gorgeous product that offers a natural looking and long lasting matte finish. The product works incredibly well on my oily skin. I have not experienced any breakouts from this product and the foundation even looks a bit matte after an entire day of wearing it. More so, this is everything I have been looking for in a foundation. The product smells incredible and it is easy to apply and blend.

On the other hand, I find it quite upsetting that not as many people can benefit from this amazing product as they should due to the limited shade range. Boots is missing out on sales here, for real. Hopefully more people will discover this product and give it a try so that Boots can see that this is actually something worth investing in. I want to assume that this product is underrated or that people do not know about it and thus thereupon Boots limited the shade range. I really hope it will change soon as it is not fair. For the first time in a while, this is a product I wholeheartedly recommend.
