I would not be me if I did not have comments, right? I am sure you know that by now, but for those of you who are new here, you are about to find out.
Okay, so Huda decided to release a beauty advent calendar. Despite what I said before and I do stand by that, I do love the fact that there is so much variety out there, I feel like some brands are pushing it. I don’t know why that was the first thing I thought when I saw this calendar.
There are brands for which it makes total sense to have a beauty advent calendar, it seemed like the next logical step for them, but here I am not so sure. I have nothing against this brand in particular, of course not. I even like some of the products and love that they offer a lot of variety in terms of products and more specifically shades. However, we have seen Huda Beauty in basically almost every single one of the multi brands advent calendars released. I am not even talking about just this year, but in the past few years as well. Huda Beauty is everywhere. I get that the brand is super popular, but it feels a bit too much. On the other hand, those who are absolutely obsessed with the brand will most likely love this new addition to the market. I know that I would if I were in that position. I could have been many years ago, but never really got there…
Okay, so leaving aside my snide comments which were not meant to insult anyone btw, this calendar is pretty cute. The Huda Advent Calendar covers a bit of everything that the Huda brands offer. I love love they included products from the classic range, from the perfume range as well as the newly released skincare range.
I love the variety of products included. I think we established that. However, what I really do not like is the number of lip products included. That is wasteful. Let’s be honest, we all have more than enough lip products to last us for years. And now that we are wearing masks, we definitely do not need more. Sure, sometimes we might give in (me, me), however at the end of the day, we really do not need more. Eyeshadows and the like, sure, but lipsticks not so much.
Overall, I would have said that despite some reservations this is a good calendar and absolutely perfect for those who love Huda Beauty. However, the inclusion of so many lip products makes me put it in the ‘okay’ category rather than ‘love it’ category.

I have a similar impression that it feels forced in terms of the concept. But definitely it’s a better eyeshadow deal than the ubiquitous topaz and ruby obsessions.
I have yet to open my El Cinco de Mayo lipstick from the last year’s Cult Beauty calendar. Still not sure if it will look good on me.
I was the same way until I realized that many of the lipsticks I was interested in trying to see what the formula was like and how it felt when applied. Plus, I also actually found some shades that are better suited for me and do not look anything like I expected while on. Some became my new favourites and look better than what I would normally go for. That is not always the case of course, but given the amount of lipsticks I purchased that do not work on me, one that I got through a gift or whatnot is better than just wasting more money on something new. Plus even if it is just for the formula.. know better than to get a new shade that I like better just to discover that the formula is crap. Sure, it depends from shade to shade but as in indication… I still give away and do not use the ones I am incredibly unsure about, however using some or just trying them is still a way to be less wasteful I believe especially if it stops you for purchasing more
Yeah, I agree. I’ve got some cosmetics I just am curious to try. Normally wouldn’t buy but since it was in a set/ calendar /gwp I indulge myself unless I know that something really won’t work on me.
With that particular lipstick it’s more about it being red in general, I still have so much of the red Nard pigment from the same calendar that it feels like a waste to open it, but I’m super curious about the formula. Need to find something to replace Charlotte Tilbury’s matte lipsticks (although I have enough to last me until early 2022…)
