Liberty of LOndon Five Minutes’ Peace Beauty Kit (new)

I am a bit late with today’s post. I know, however to be honest I did consider skipping today given everything that has happened. It feels a bit off to be talking about beauty on this day.

On the other hand (okay, not on the other hand as” in comparison” – it cannot even compare), I have been posting daily since the first day of this year and I know that skipping one day leads to two days and then more. I don’t want to do that. Not only did I beat a record, but this keeps me focus and gives me an opportunity to engage with you more often. Being here with you is one of the highlights of my day. Anyway, so for today’s post, I decided to share with you a new beauty offer from Liberty of London.

Speaking of Liberty, I just got my first international delivery from Liberty ever and the first international order from the UK straight from a retailer since Brexit. All good. I was so excited when I finally got it. I had my doubts due to the lengthy processed put in place by DHL when it comes to customs clearance.

Okay, so let’s get back to today’s topic. I am sure you are already familiar with Liberty’s beauty boxes and even with today’s box (in a way). Liberty decided to bring back their last beauty box – the Five Minutes’ Peace Beauty Kit, however is a slightly different format. Have a look below to find out more.

Comments

Despite there having been several such beauty kits, and even some with this specific thematic, I have to say that this is one of my favourite ones. At first sight, it might not seem like much, not compared with the others. It is like the underdog somehow of the beauty kits released by Liberty and yet, I am a sucker for the underdogs. I root for them like I do for this kit. It took me a bit by surprise and maybe a long and tiring week made me a bit more biased than usual and I am in dire need of some TLC, of some self-care and this beauty kit is meant to provide just that.

I haven’t used many of the products included in this beauty kit. I used three of them, if I can even say that. One of them – the Aurelia Cleanser I feel I have not used enough to talk about which is why I am a bit unsure whether I can say that I used three products rather than two. It is a good product though, at least my first impressions were good. Now, about the two products I used more often. One of them is the Augustinus Bader Rich Cream. The celebrity endorsed cream is pretty nice and it is effective as well. My skin looks significantly better each time I use it, however for those with oily skin such as myself it might not work all the time or it might come across as a bit too thick. It really depends on the day. Sometimes I like it while other days, I wish I had used something lighter. However, despite the cream being effective, it is not as stable IMO. The cream does not last once opened. Sure, it has a short shelf-life, fact that is depicted on the jar, but I feel that for once, the expiration date is a bit overestimated. I have gone though several jars and bottles of the cream as well as other products from the brand…Have you had any issues with AB? Otherwise, the cream is pretty good.

Another product that I reach for quite often and that is included in this beauty kit are the Spacemasks. Spacemasks are the one product every single person who sits in front of screen needs. They work like magic on eye strain. A full review is available here.

The rest of the products are new to me as well. However, I have tried something from each of the brands. Margaret Dabbs is a pretty okay brand. It takes some getting use to though and the scent of their products is not everyone’s cup of tea. Mine isn’t, but the products do help so I am trying to use them whenever I remember. I am not even going to get into how Dr Sebagh rocks. The brand is incredible and their HA serum is out of this world. It changed the appearance of my pores in a way that no other products managed. As for Neom, well, also not my cup of tea, but the quality of their products is pretty good. I don’t really have a thing for herbal like scents. I mean, there are a few I like, but most I do not. That leaves Kalmar whose products are of high quality and just a joy to use. They provide a beautiful sensorial experience.

Overall, like I said, it does not make huge sense for me to like this beauty kit, but I do. I really do like it and I like it more than previous editions. How about you?

  1. I ordered this today after seeing your post 😊 thanks! I absolutely love the Big Night In kit I ordered not too long ago, Can’t wait to receive this one too! These kits usually sell out pretty quickly. Was a bit undecided having soooo many products at the moment, but quickly justified it to myself lol. It’s good value and mainly got it for the Aurelia cleanser, Bader cream and the Sebagh serum to try out x

    1. Yay! Also, thank you so much! I appreciate the support 🙂 When you finally get to try the products, do let me know what you thought. I am quite curious of how you found the Dr Sebagh serum. However, I am even more curious about your opinion on the Augustinus Bader Cream. Personally despite liking it, I am not as obsessed as some of the celebrities endorsing “seem” to be. I would love to hear another real opinion.

  2. Yes for sure! Will let you know what I think 😊the Dr Sebagh Gold Elixir serum is hideously expensive full size, so will see what it’s like, it’s a 5ml travel size – not sure if I can get a very good impression from that alone but I’m curious. It retails for £55 just for the 5cl… I liked Dr Sebagh’s hyaluronic acid serum in the past. I’ve tried a Augustinus Bader cream sample before a while back, but I’m not sure if it was the cream, or the rich cream version. I thought it was not bad, but not blown away either?! Meh. Some people claim it gives them such a glow! I’ll see how I get on with the rich cream discovery size in this Liberty kit once I receive it. I think it might be a bit like Barbara Sturm, massively overhyped with a good PR machine behind it! However I am also currently using some Augustinus Bader face oil, received it in a recent Space NK GWP. Now that seems impressive, I like it so far… need to give it a few more goes. It’s just a small sample really, but seems to go quite a long way. I’ve been actually really impressed by some clean beauty boxes lately from Naturisimo. They were only about £20 and I’ve been loving the contents and packaging, including a face duo of a serum and oil from The Organic Pharmacy, as well as Ren makeup and Tara Harper moisturisers too.

    1. Yeah, saw that Naturisimo had some really nice boxes in recent months. I wanted to even post about some of them, but always got distracted 😅 personally, I haven’t tried them so maybe that also played a factor and now with Brexit and all…

Yes, the Augustinus Bader Oil is great. I do recommend using it up fast though. I have a 20ml? one from the Niche Beauty Advent Calendar and it started smelling a bit off around a month after opening despite storing it properly. It is faint, but I can still tell and sadly it is not the only AB product I had an issue with. However, none that fast.

Thank you! I totally agree with you about Dr Barbara Strum. Have you tried the products in full size? I recently used up the HA serum and my full size was significantly better than all previous deluxe sizes I got through GWPs. Still consider it overpriced, but quality was better.

      1. I checked and my Bader oil is 2.2ml 😂 just a small vial, but I’ll use it up soon just in case thanks. 20ml is worth quite a lot! It’s £65 just for 10ml. I haven’t used any Barbara Sturm full size yet, despite being tempted by various full size products included in beauty boxes over Christmas etc. That really bumps up the ‘value’ of them. Weird the sample quality wasn’t the same as the full size. I do think hyaluronic acid is something I don’t need to splurge on, there’s great bargains out there and they seem to work well. (Evolve, Inkey List etc). What I discovered which is a game changer, is to apply hyaluronic acid to damp skin! Like you should with face oils. Makes the skin on your face so smooth and soft, Speaking of acids and cult status brands, just tried Drunk Elephants’ Baby Facial for the first time. My skin was pretty pink-red after for a few days and my skin can usually handle face acids (but I like the fact it must be doing something!) I am also trying out the Charlotte Tilbury Super Radiance Resurfacing Facial (purchased full size). Not sure it’s game changing yet, but I actually really like the mini Crystal serum that came with it! Didn’t expect to like it so much.

      2. Oh that is good to know. Thanks for the insights! I was looking forward to the Baby Facial, however I still have the Ole H. Phat Glow to finish and have been waiting.

Yes, I agree. HA works wonders on damp or wet skin and also that it does not need to cost an arm and a leg. There are quite a few affordable out there which are alright. The Ordinary one is the least of my favorites though. My favorite HA serums are somewhere within the £20-£30 price range now that I think about it 🤔

      3. I truly don’t get the Ordinary hype! I never really liked any of their products, the face peel isn’t bad (the one that’s a red colour) but the rest – didn’t see results. Omorovicza Acid Fix is pricey but effective, I can see a difference when I use this and I rate the Dr Dennis Gross Pore Perfecting Cleansing Gel (has acids in it too). The best ever is the Lancer Caviar Lime Acid Peel mask ❤️ Hopefully my Liberty kit will arrive in the next few days, looking forward to trying the Kalmar too – I liked their moisturiser in the last kit I got, even if it smells pretty strong. Quite a luxury brand it seems 😊

      4. Yes, Kalmar products are quite fragranced. I agree, I do not get the hype about the Ordinary either. There have been a few products that I did like and some that I continue to use such as the Niacinamide serum (worked wonders on my pores and especially on breakouts), however there are others in the same price range that do pretty much the same thing. I only used the red peel once. It kinda freaked me out and was worried on whether my skin would react or not. I could not wash it off fast enough, but I was so young and unknowledgeable back then haha. I was just getting started with hard core skincare products. Might give it another try now. The cleanser from Dennis Gross is the thick, sticky one no? I used the acids one and while it is effective, the texture puts me off.

      5. How funny, I was going to mention the Niacinamide serum, that’s good and the Revolution Beauty one with Zinc is even better I think. Totally helped with break outs caused by wearing face masks! Along with Tiger Grass calming moisturisers on top. The Alpha Beta cleanser is quite thick and sticky when it comes out, but quickly foams up and leaves skin much less pore less and helps prevent breakouts etc I think. Btw meant to comment a while back on your Becca post, it’s weird they disappeared out of the UK a few years back, then reappeared for a while here. Maybe bad finances! Who knows. I did snap up a Champagne Pop highlighter while I could on sale 😊. Used to adore that brand but they kept reformulating and preferred the old products.

      6. Hmm never realised they were gone. Personally I never purchased any of their products. Just used the ones I got through beauty gifts or advent calendars, but they did not impress me at all. The only product I wanted to buy was the no pigment foundation – crazy I know! 😀 interesting fact actually. The only brand I know that left and made a reappearance is Ole Henriksen. I was finally into beauty and remember the colourful wall of products in Debenhams and when I went to get some to try, there were none left. They only returned a couple of years ago as I am sure you know. Never realized Becca did the same.

      7. Ok, so thoughts so far – really like the Neom handcream (nice scent and good portable hand bag size), the AB rich moisturiser is good but need to keep using it. I was offered by AB directly recently to receive £65 worth of samples, just to pay the postage which I received today. For the cream and rich cream! They look sample sized and tiny, I know combined they equate to 15ml but seems crazy they’re valued at £65 for the 2 little tubes. I know it’s an expensive brand and very grateful! Let’s see if I notice any results. Haven’t tried the Aurelia cleanser yet, as have so many others open and on the go. Will try soon. Foot cream, body moisturiser and body wash all nice and useful. I will try the Dr Sebagh Gold serum tonight and see how impressive it is. I did get a bit more excited by the Big Night In kit, but this is still great and Liberty compile such lovely brands, it always feels like an amazing treat.

      8. Really glad you seen to be enjoying your products. Happy for you about AB. Yeah, they are pretty expensive… thanks for stopping by to share you opinion on the products. I really appreciate it and I am sure others will benefit from reading your thoughts as well. 💜
