Instead of writing another review (felt like I’ve written significantly more this month than I have in quite some time now), I decided to do something different. I actually have lots of these different type of articles in mind, but for the past year I ended up postponing them time and time again without really meaning to.
Work has definitely taken a toll on me, especially since I never really had any time off and I ended up in a weird place overall. I am sure some fo you understand exactly what I am talking about and if you do not, then I am truly happy for you as it sucks. I have been blogging for more than ten years now and never in this entire time I felt more like a fraud than I have for the past few months. While my thoughts and experiences are genuine as I would not dare share anything but (plus it is not in my character to do so), I have been feeling like I haven’t provided as much value recently as I have in the past. I hate that feeling. Traveling a bit last weekend definitely helped a tiny bit as it allowed me to see new things, or rather not the same old things day in, day out, but it is not enough. I promised myself that this new year or my life I will try to disconnect, focus on things that make me happy and not force it, at least as much as I can ( I will always be a bit of a control freak :D).
So this is my first foray in the new chapter of my life and of course of my life that is related to this platform. Hope you will enjoy it and find it informative. Here are the 5 Hair Products I Keep on Buying:
IGK Hair First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo
One of the hair care products I cannot seem to live without is the IGK Hair First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo. While I do not advocate for using dry shampoo, I have to admit that it is a useful product to have in your stash. Where you are working from home or going to the office or somewhere else, there will be times when you might find yourself to be too tired to wash your hair even if you do take your daily shower/bath. Washing, drying takes time…I do not know about you, but I rarely find the process relaxing, especially given the number of times I have to repeat the process per week in order for my hair to look sort of presentable.
I admit that since I started working from home, I have been trying to wash my hair less in a hopeful attempt that I could somehow go back to less frequent washes in general. With age I noticed that my hair required more frequent washing and it has gotten a bit our of hand. If I could help my scalp regenerate so that I could exclude one of those weekly washes moving forward, it would be amazing. I read reports of people who stopped washing their hair for 1-2 years and while that is great for them, especially since they claim it helped, I am not that daring. I will never do that, I know it so there is no point in pretending otherwise, but if my little experiment works great, if not, at least I tried. However, from time to time, I end up having an unplanned video call for work which kinda puts a damper on my plans so a quick fix is required. This is where the IGK Charcoal Dry Shampoo comes in. The product from IGK is a miracle worker. It not only helps absorb some of the oiliness, but also adds a bit of volume without leaving a white last. The product does not build up like other dry shampoos out there and it does not lead to itchiness.

Wet Brush by Wet Brush Pro
Whether the Paddle, the Original Detangler, the Mini or the Go Green, these brushes are so incredible that I cannot believe I went so long without them. I have been using these brushes for years now and no longer use anything else these days, however it was not always the case. The Wet Brushes hit the market, I was super skeptical. I was very reluctant to try them as I was certain they would make no difference whatsoever to my super tangled hair. That was a mistake on my part.
I do not know what is so different about these brushes, but they rid you of tangles almost always without feeling any sort of discomfort or pain. They do work best of wet hair though, especially when we are talking about detangling. This is also something I was reluctant to do as I always thought that brushing wet hair leads to breakage, but haven’t experiences any issues with these brushes.

L’Occitane Purifying Freshness Shampoo
One of my favourite shampoos for keeping my scalp healthy and my hair looking amazing is the L’Occitane Purifying Freshness Shampoo. The shampoo from L’Occitane does an incredible job at cleaning your hair and your scalp. It removes product buildup leaving your tresses shiny and you scalp clear of impurities. This is one of the shampoos that allow me to go longer in between washes without having to make any sort of compromise when it comes to volume.

Percy & Reed I need a Hero wonder Balm Hair Primer
I take small offence to the name of this product even though I’ve purchased like 10 tubes of these, including some oversized ones in the past 5 years or so. I still like to believe than in “this one” the princess saves herself, but I have to admit that there might be nothing I can actually do for my hair. It is on its own. Seriously now, the hair primer from Percy & Reed is pretty fantastic and leaves the hair looking glossy and more manageable. It also provides some volume or rather it helps you maintain the volume if you decided to style it in a manner that generated volume.
The only issue I have with it is that it let me down on my graduation day, but my hormones were to of whack so maybe it was not exactly its fault and the humidity levels were high even for London on that particular day. Sadly, it will take me a while to get over it since it pretty much ruined my graduation photos! But despite that, I still use the product and have no intention of stopping anytime soon. It is weightless and works really well. It is one extra step sure, but it is easy to apply and makes everything so much easier, especially for those such as myself who cannot style hair.

Coco & Eve Super Nourishing Coconut and Fig Hair Mask
Hair Masks seem a good idea in theory, but I have to admit that I haven’t found many that I enjoyed using or that generated any results worth mentioning. Maybe I used all the wrong products which is totally plausible, but I have found one hair mask that I did enjoy and that is the Coconut and Fig Hair Mask from Coco & Eve. This is the only hair mask ever that I purchased more than once and I have not regretted it one second. The Mask is very nourishing, it leaves the hair feeling soft, smooth and yet it does not take away from the volume. That is key for me as my hair is pretty flat as it is. I highly recommend giving it a try.

I won’t claim that there aren’t any other products that I use or even purchase, but these are the ones I repurchase the most and have been for years. I am always on the lookout for new products, for better products, but these here have stood the test of time. Maybe we will revisit this list in the future and the top 5 products will be different, but until then, these are it.

I was very skeptical of the Wet Brush because I also thought trying to detangle wet hair might damage it, but now I will happily try. I have a huge issue with hair tangling.
It’s interesting for me to see you like the IGK dry shampoo. I got in Space NK 2019 calendar and gave it away. I preferred the one from Sam Knight far better. I don’t know what it was exactly, I think my scalp reacted badly and generally the texture was not to my liking.
The Coco & Eve mask was nice but a jar like this lasts me for 3-4 applications (I have long and thick hair), so the mask was just too expensive.
A product for hair I like is dry oil. But I don’t have brands I stick to. I will stick to a shampoo once I find the perfect one but about the rest I don’t care because any moisturizing product that can help with tangling will do. And since I never style my hair and hardly ever blow dry it there a whole lot of products I don’t even know exist.
Fair enough. Yes, the dry shampoo from Sam McKnight is also pretty amazing. I would say that one is second on my list. I liked IGK as it still provided volume and making the hair look better without completely changing the hair texture, but yes Sam McKnight might be even lighter however for me it was not as effective. With thick hair, it might not be as noticeable, but on my thin(ish) one it kinda is.
Dry oil? Any brand in particular? Not sure if I would dare, but I am intrigued haha.
Most recently I finished Oribe from the SpaceNK 2019 calendar but on its own it’s super expensive so I won’t buy it. Previously I had one from Rossmann’s own brand, Isana, and it last me over a year with usage after every wash but quality wise it’s below Oribe. Few years ago I had one from Pantene (from one of my Glossyboxes) and that one was very decent but it’s Pantene so I won’t bug it.
I have oils from Briogeo and the Inkey List but I don’t know yet what they are because I want to finish an absolutely dreadful product called Blush Spray Hydratant. It’s a leave-in treatment that’s pink and sticky :/ got it in the Alyaka calendar I believe, or in a Love Lula or Naturissimo box. Either way, dreadful
Oh. That sounds pretty bad! Personally I never really enjoyed much from Oribe so I am happy to hear they have a good product. Rossmann is not an option right now as we do not have it in RO but you made me curious. Also, I kinda miss exploring the shop as they had so many brands I cannot find here 😀 Inkey List ones seemed pretty good. I haven’t finished my bottles of their haircare products yet, but tried them a few times and quality wise they seemed alright. Thank you for reminding me! I did enjoy them more than their skincare range.
Oh, and the oil is just for the dry ends. I use it for the lower part of my hair, so still it’s a bit of product I need but with the oils a little goes a long way usually, and you’re not supposed to see the product on your hair. If you do and the hair is sticky then it’s too much
