Price and Value of the Fortnum and Mason Beauty Advent Calendar

The new edition of the Fortnum and Mason Beauty Advent Calendar is slightly more expensive than its previous editions. The current version is priced at £225 however it has a value of over £750. The calendar is available for purchase here.

Please note though the the calendar will be dispatched starting October 24th.

Unfortunately, this beauty advent calendar can only be delivered within the United Kingdom, including Northern Ireland but excluding Channel Islands. EU shipping is currently paused, however it is not very clear whether the calendar would have shipped outside the UK otherwise. If things change by the time the calendar is available for grabs, I will let you know.

Comments on the Fortnum and Mason Beauty Advent Calendar 2021

Fortnum and Mason have really turned up the heat this year with the Fortnum’s Beauty Advent Calendar. Fortnum and Mason are somewhat of a known brand throughout the luxury department store world, though not so much for their beauty section. Fortnum & Mason always remain relatively under-the-radar as compared to some of their more mainstream competitors like John Lewis or Selfridges. But that is a mistake, is it not? Have you seen the contents of this advent calendar (of course you have, it is more of rhetorical questions)?

Fortnum & Mason have managed to out-do themselves with this beauty advent which has got to be one of the most value for money beauty calendars I have seen. It seems that we can get used to expecting calendars of such value from the retailer though as they managed to hit the £700 mark every single year since their started releasing these beauties. Fortnum & Mason are seriously spoiling us! Fortnum and Mason have always said that they build their reputation on heritage, quality, craftsmanship, authenticity and experience. It’s a good job that the Fortnum’s Beauty Advent Calendar lives up to that statement because it is worth every single penny! It is not just Fortnum’s Beauty holiday deal of the year but it might well be Fortnum & Masons best calendar offering yet!

The Fortnum and Mason Beauty Advent Calendar again promises to be another one that deserves a space on your vanity and Fortnum & Mason have certainly pulled out all the stops to make that happen. The inclusions of not one, but several exclusive brands was definitely a nice touch. Furthermore, seeing more than one product from a brand is also pretty neat.

The brand themselves are not brands we have not seen included before. They seem to be Fortnum’s to go to brand, however that is fine. They are generally not brands we get to see anywhere else, not really. Personally, I am happy that the rather decided to include a newer product from Sol de Janeiro. You know I love the brand and the Bum Bum Cream, however the brand has released quite a few goodies lately and they have not been featured nearly enough. We have seen The Bum Bum Cream enough times by now.

Perhaps, the product I like the least from this beauty advent calendar is the Escentric Molecules Escentric 05 Eau de Toilette. From all the fragrances from Escentric Molecules, I believe this specific one was the one I disliked the most. Their products just do not work on me. They smell really off and all the fragrances ended up gathering dust which is such a shame. I never had a similar issues with any of the other fragrance brands I tried previously. I hope you had a better experience with the brand as it would be a shame to end up with a product you won’t like or use.

Another product I can tel you a bit about is the Dr Vranjes Rosso Nobile Room Spray. The Dr Vranjes Rosso Nobile Room Spray is a product that I previously got from a beauty advent calendar. To be honest, I am not entirely certain that I did not get it from a previous edition of the Fortnum and Mason’s Beauty Advent Calendar actually. I feel like I have or maybe it was the Harrods one? Anyway, the Dr Vranjes Rosso Nobile Room Spray to be smells a lot like wine so if that is your thing, then you might enjoy it. The scent of this room spray by Dr Vranjes is elegant and not overpowering. It is rather strong, but just the right amount. It is hard to get it right for everyone when it comes to the inclusion of fragrances of any kind in a beauty box or beauty advent calendar. I am fully aware of that, however on this occasion they also let me down a bit, but not as in the case of the Escentric Molecules. Dr Vranjes Rosso Nobile Room Spray is definitely not to my taste, but it could be to yours. Again, if you like the scent of wine, then you might just like the Dr Vranjes Rosso Nobile Room Spray. I am happy to see a different scent included as well as a bit of variety does help.

I have not tried any of the other products as far as I can recall, but I am excited about seeing Bromley, Olverum and Kure Bazaar included in the calendar.

Fortnum and Mason have managed to provide a Beauty Advent Calendar which is not only jam-packed with useful beauty products but it also feels like Fortnum has taken extra care in choosing each product to make the Fortnum & Mason Beauty Advent Calendar stand out. Also, this calendar feels more like a lifestyle advent calendar than a beauty advent calendar once again which is something I am actually all for.

I have a feeling that it will be very difficult for other retailers to top this one. Sure, we already have confirmation that another iconic British brand will top the value of this calendar, but content wise we do not know all that much so far. Furthermore, I am certain that there won’t be many options on the market that could make this calendar fall short, if any really. There never were and I doubt this will be the year.

Overall, I am actually impressed by this beauty advent calendar from Fortnum and Mason. They did really good. Honestly, I cannot think of one thing that could make this beauty advent calendar more appealing, well other than opening up the shipping options to other countries beside the United Kingdom.

What do you think of the new edition of the Fortnum and Mason Beauty Advent Calendar?

  1. Ah, it looks amazing. I really wish it was avaialble for international shipping, but I suppose that the inclusion of perfume means that this year Fortnum’s doesn’t plan to ship their calendar outside the UK (even Channel Islands are excluded…).
I really like there are 0 make-up items in the calendar, not even a mascara.
I have a similar experience with the Molecules, this is the only one item in this calendar that I don’t find appealing, but the rest seems cool. I still have some items from the previous years, like Bramley both products (don’t work on me, but they have a very luxurious feel), and the De-stress muscle gel feels not only ubiquitous but a tad boring, but other than that I wish I could have this calendar. This could be that only one calendar I intend to buy this year.
Alas even if I tried parcel forwarding, import fees and other costs would be something between 80-100 GBP from what I understand, so adding this to the length of the process, lack of control over it, no access to information on the status of the parcel and unclear costs, is not something I want to do.
    Sad sad sad (that I won’t buy stuff I don’t really need….)

    1. I agree with the last part. 🙁 For me it is also the bit about the price. For anything over 150 Euros, there are special handling fees and paperwork needed that would be nearly impossible for me to fill in without going from public institution to public institution to get it all settled. Worth even less than covering all the fees for forwarding and worse, VAT which to me it seems like it is already included in the price of the product.

      1. Yeah, I’m confused regarding the VAT because it’s 20% or sth in the UK so it’s already in the price, so why is there additional VAT charged on import here.

      2. I wonder if anyone was actually charged VAT on anything imported recently 🤔 I haven’t ordered anything past the minimum value (when there was still one) and since only from retailers that deal with all the taxes themselves. Don’t mind me 😂 even if some people might have not been charged, my country would have found a way for sure. Stuff got lost in translation or something.

  2. I don’t want to risk it by ordering something more expensive (over €150) and then be informed by the customs office that I have to pay additional 30-40% of the order’s value. Especially since the luxury calendars cost over this threshold

  3. Ah, I’m really so bummed this one is UK only and the customs are a barrier that’s a no go for me.
I just ordered shoes from the UK, sent directly to my country with DHL. The shoes cost 77 GBP, shipping 20 GBP and I paid 23 GBP additional VAT… T_T
