I’ve been eyeing this calendar for a while now, and with the incredible selection of products included this time around, I’m more determined than ever to make sure I don’t miss out.

  1. Fingers crossed you get it!
I’ve just checked and the pre-order in this batch has sold out. Reminds of the first two years of Cult Beauty calendars.
I’m glad I’m not eyeing the YesStyle calendar, I’d get up at 4 am too…

    1. Got up and for nothing. The website and app crashed several times. I nearly managed to add it to basket when it showed up that it was sold out in my area, same as last year. But checked again after a few hours and it worked? We shall see. Made the payment… I was starting to think that these calendars are just for show. Hope the calendar gets regular delivery not like the facial device as now I am “fighting” with DHL customs team which I never had to do with YS 🙃 will keep you posted! Have you picked any calendars thus far?

      1. Oh, what’s the issue with customs for the device?
I hope it works and you get the calendar. I remember last year you mentioned it was super disappointing.

So far I only bought Pafory. I’ve almost decided against the UK calendars. I’m planning to be in London this autumn, so maybe my resolve will melt when I see them live, though. I was deliberating between Harvey Nichols, Fortnum’s and Liberty, but at the end of the day I have too much make-up and perfume, despite already decluttering a bit. So I’m trying to first make room and only then buy new things.
I’m still waiting for StyleKorean, Oh My Cream and Mon Corner B calendar reveals and there’s also winter Splendist and Elle Christmas box. I’ll see if they’re more skincare oriented and the kind of skincare I need. That’s why I probably won’t get Typology. I still have stuff from last year that’s not exactly for my skin. I gave away some. And the lip oil was a dud, the packaging leaked and the product was unimpressive, so I’d rather carefully select the products I need and will use. I’m also careful about my vit C stash, keeping in mind what you said. So I pretty much shouldn’t be getting anything until next year.

      2. 🙌🏻 I am also on the lookout for StyleKorean and debating Blissim (still super upset that my forwarding firm lost my limited edition set) even though regular boxes have arrived… also on the lookout for Skins NL releases and Adopt perfume. net is also an option and CB but only if like last year 😉

As for the device, this is the first time I had to fill in the customs paperwork for YS as usually the split the parcels and send them with slower couriers and they pass through without my input😔 fingers crossed it will get here tomorrow even if not today as indicated initially

  2. Skins must have recently published their calendar. I’ve just checked because you reminded me of them. Adopt have 4 calendars out already. Net will not have a calendar this year, they’re financially not well and their beauty offer is shrinking – I read in Business of Beauty. I check them out ever since you linked an article here.
Which Blissim limited edition was lost?
For the customs, is it because it’s a high value item? Did you still had to pay DHL fees even though you filled out the customs paperwork yourself? I learned that here you cannot fill out the customs documentation yourself, you will always have to pay a handling fee no matter what the carrier. VAT is applied for orders 40+ EUR and that triggers customs papers. Recently I’ve paid 8 EUR VAT and 21 EUR for the service (on top of paying for the shipping). If you don’t want to pay the handling fees, you can only decline the reception of the package. Apparently it’s legal and that’s how it is.

    1. Yeah, after eight the comment I checked out Adopt and saw the calendars but not sure whether they are winter ones? They had some in summer and these ones do seem different from what I remember but the scents do not seem wintery. Will definitely look more into to it. Also worried about shipping as I am not sure whether they use courier or post or will have to have them delivered to France…

Hmm, did see something about Net but did not get to read the article. Too bad if that is the case!

As for YS, they shipped the device via express DHL rather than their regular DHL plus local courier. Not sure whether it was this that triggered the customs inquiry or not. Here as far as I know, I only pay the DHL fees if I choose for them to represent me aka pay the duties on my behalf. I do not recall having to pay when the VAT was already included. I keep promising myself that I will choose to represent myself as I ever registered to be allowed to do so but am worried about how to go about the payments to the national treasury in that case. No clue how that even works and when my parcel end up in customs like this, they are always things I really want 🙇🏻‍♀️ so weird the whole system… when I do have to repay them the taxes and concussion I usually pay the VAT + 10 EUR
And 2% of taxes I believe which seems way less than for you in any case. I do hope the decide will get here tomorrow as I am super curious as to whether it is as good as many claim it is. Hope they will release it at one point at least 🙂
