I am so excited about this new post! You will see why in just a second. But yeah, another month has passed and summer is nearly over, well on the calendar as the high temperatures do not seem to be going away. I wish they were as I cannot handle it anymore – I am beyond uncomfortable and tired from being unable to sleep. But anyways, let’s get on with it.
Why am I so excited this month? Keep on reading to find out.

For the first time ever since I started this challenge around three and a half years ago, I went two months without spending any money on beauty. I am surprised and impressed to be honest. I did not realise that I had this kind of restraint haha. I actually did not even think much about beauty these past few months. I promised to sit some exams these last 12 months and have yet to fulfil my promise due to a series of unfortunate events. I am at the end of the period so I must sit them now if I want to be able to afford more beauty goodies in the future. Okay, I am exaggerating a bit here, but yeah, I would be eligible to get a little something extra that I could use towards beauty, but more than just that, I have to do it for myself. More than making a promise to someone else, I made a promise to myself. (Update – I only have one more exam to sit. I sat one at the end of August and passed 🙂 ).
Another reason why staying away from beauty purchases was easier than usual is the fact that I know I will be spending quite a bit more in the upcoming months with all the advent calendar launches and all, but also because I have some credits/vouchers that will expire which I do not want to lose at YesStyle, respectively iHerb.
Okay, and there is an another very special reason.
Typology Paris, a French cosmetics brand I have been curious about for ages has reached out and offered to send me a nice little packages filled with goodie that should suit my skincare needs. You can take a sneak peak at these goodies in the video below, but safe to say that I am beyond excited to have received this parcel as a gift (and grateful) from the brand and to finally try out the products. I have not confuted the products above as I have not paid fro them, but yeah, my stash did grow instead of shrink.
Other than this, there is not much else to report.
As stated in the intro, I have been struggling with the heat which made me less inclined to apply a full face of skincare products. This is probably the reason why I have been unable to finish up more products. However, I am glad that I managed to get to this point without too many b breakouts. Fingers crossed it is going to stay this way.
How did you do in August?

Oh wow, so many congratulations are in order! Congrats on your exam and fingers crossed for the other one, awesome for the PR package from Typology (I’ll check them out) and kudos for the no buy.
In this heat I also use rudimentary skincare, and can’t wait for the hot summer to be over.
By the way, you’ve got a very pretty profile picture on TikTok:)
Thank you so much 🤗 yeah, summer heat is something else…
The profile pic is an AI generated photo based on an slightly older photo of mine 🙂 but thank you for this as well 🙂
How did you do in August? Did you manage to stay way from purchases or use up more of the stuff you had in your stash?
I low key wish I could dye my hair pink, but that wouldn’t suit my current job.
In August I bought two sets of hair cosmetics, Kevin Murphy from Blissim and Morrocanoil from Lookfantastic. This is the stuff I use, so it won’t collect dust in the stash. I still managed to deplete the stash and this month is looking good as well. I’ve also given away bunch of stuff. I’m still on the fence regarding advent calendars (when I see an announcement I want to buy, but then I sleep on it) but I think I will indulge myself. I did order Pafory (I used your link but after a couple of days because I kept the tab open, did it count?)
Normally it would have counted even after several days especially if you have not used anyone else’s link however for Pafory I did not have an affiliate link 🙂 it was just a regular link. Glad you decided to give a go though! Hope you will uncover an amazing new fragrance 😃
That is great – in regards to your stash! I love seeing you making progress. At least one of us has too 😂
Pink hair? Count me in! I always wanted pink hair as well but I refuse to dye my hair for the longest of time. The only attempts I had was by using hair chalk (it was a thick g a few years back) but my hair is not blonde so it was pretty pointless. I did manage to get a bit of color with the L’Oréal wash off range – I did green and especially after I used their sun skidded jelly range to brighten my hair for an ombré like effect. But nothing was too visible. I was tempted to go down the more permanent route at least the tips but same as you, my job would make it difficult 🙁 but pink hair is so cool!
Yeah, dying my hair permanently is a drag, the wash off colours don’t really show on me unless they’re semi-permanent but then they’re not really wash off, and the single use sprays I tried either didn’t show or were super sticky and the colour payoff was below mediocre, so I’m yet to find something that could turn my hair the colour I want for the period of time I want.
As for my stash, I think it will shrink to a reasonable size next year. I’m getting better and better at buying less. I had this period when I was amazed with all those sets, GWPs and advent calendars because I hadn’t seen anything like that before. But now I have seen, I’ve bought plenty, I’ve tried plenty, I’ve learned what I like and how much I need, and there’s Brexit. So I want to use up what I have, give away what I won’t use and make more informed purchases so I don’t end up again with a pile of products I won’t use.
congrats on you stash and progress! I compelled agree with you actually and have been trying to do the same 🙂 I have been less successful, but I can also begin to see the progress. I am finally able to let go of products that I know I will not use, products I have kept for long enough and know I will not ever review etc. I got so much stuff from advent calendars as well as from sets and gifts with purchase that I could not bring myself to throw away/donate or just gift because they were from brands that I never tried before or because they were super expensive or whatnot, but they have no value if they just end up sitting around. I went from not wearing lipstick to amassing a collection of over 100 products that I never touch as the colour just do not work for me. Still not as easy as I would like to let go, but it has to be done. And not just with lipstick but with everything.
Here to an even better September!
