  1. Something’s changed. I used to spend £250 to qualify for a gift with purchase. Now I see this amount and I think that no way am I going to spend this much. Definitely the current economy plays a huge role, but also the GWPs don’t seem that attractive to me anymore and I can get very good cosmetics, i.e. Asian beauty, for much cheaper, so there’s no reason for me to spend this much.

    1. I see your point. I am less willing to spend this much as well especially with all other offers. Lately, I have been picking up gift with purchase by purchasing previous goody bags or edits/boxes to justify the spend by increasing my value considerably. However, Asian beauty products have been playing a role in skipping gifts for a while as like you said, the are more affordable but also effective. If it were easier though, Liberty would still be a yes for me most of the time – I have soft spot for the retailer and their unique curation

      1. Yeah, for me as well. I don’t even consider them because of the shipping and double tax. If like you say they were accessible I might splurge every now and then for the unique products in their offer

      2. I have skipped them due to the customs formalities which are trickier than for usual parcels…. However and I may be wrong, I do not recall paying VAT for the gifts from SoaceNK and such. They did come with duties paid upfront – not sure if extra to the price or not but perhaps so? It’s been a good while since the last one I picked up. I would pick them up if I were visiting the UK when one were released though. Now, for the most part, I have only gotten the CB ones especially since they also started selling the previous ones as gift sets the way Niche Beauty does. For example, in December or so I picked up most of the goody bags I skipped in order to quality for the latest one. I got 962 of value for 178. Now, I got 924 value for 180… it is now quite like Harvey Nichols in the good old days, but it is alright and free shipping and no customs. It is a good way to pick up intens of interest even if not as niche as those from Liberty and also prepare for upcoming events such as broth days or Easter. With that being said, I do see your point and I agree that our choices are considerably more limited. When I saw them as gift sets for the first time late last year, I was incredibly happy that I had skipped them till that point. Had it lot been for this chance, I probably would have not picked up either. Also glad that I picked the last one as otherwise I would have done something stupid 😝 my local Sephora released 24 mini fragrances gift for like 500 pounds of purchase – now that would have been a bad idea and I cannot believe I am still tempted. Have your ever gone for such an an offer in the past?

      3. By double tax I mean the difference in GBP and EUR prices on Liberty and Selfridges pages. It seems on top of the UK VAT they add EU VAT. And there are no customs under 150 EUR, so I’m heavily discouraged from buying there.
Yeah, CB has it sorted, same prices and no extra fees. And the purchasable goody bags and sets are a great offer. Pity Lookfantastic now locks delivery destinations, I no longer can order from the UK site (or any other for that matter) with delivery to France. And the offers between sites differ 🙁

I don’t think I’ve ever spent on beauty 500 pounds in one go, so I think an offer like that would appear out of reach for me. Except for super expensive luxury fragrances that go 250 pounds per bottle I don’t see how I could reach this threshold. 24 mini fragrances might be super nice though if it’s those miniature bottles, but ithink I’d rather buy the ones I want instead.

      4. I assume these type of offers from Sephora are for those that shop either fragrances or stuff such as La Mer. It would be super easy to reach the threshold but yeah, I would get heart palpitations at the idea of spending that much on beauty in one go as well 😝 I can barley do it when it comes to educational programs that would or could potentially lead to a nice return on investment. However, those small bottles with 5/10ml are actually nice in my opinion. I usually get like a week use or so from one. I know this from a Selfridges x Lancôme (or L’Oreal?) or something calendar from years back. This allows plenty of time to see how I feel about a fragrance but also to experiment. I already have a signature fragrance so… it would be a fun way to play around with other scents but still overly pricey for one purchase.

Hmm, not sure what to say about LF. I could only ever shop the German website 😶

      5. Jo Malone Peony Blush Suede 😅 but also London by Burberry when and if I can still find it. The latter has been my to go to since 2004 or so. Do you have a signature fragrance?
