Make your own fragrance with this kit

Ever since I was a little kid, I had a thing for fragrances. It is not that hard to see why, right? I mean there is just something special about scents and when combined in the right way, it is like magic. At least, that is how it was for me. However, until now I did not even consider making my own fragrance. The ones that I own came from a store and lately, from a boutique.

One day, everything changed. I discovered The Perfume Studio London bespoke fragrance collection and I knew I had to try it. Luckily, The Perfume Studio kindly gifted one such kit to me. So this is a PR sample, but as always what follows are my honest thoughts on the kit.

The bespoke fragrance set from The Perfume Studio is a beautiful set of 6 perfume oil blends that you get to choose and it also comes with all the accessories you need to create your perfect perfume. You won’t even have to worry about buying a bottle as there is one included. The best part? There are no rules so you can create whatever you want to.

The process is very straightforward and really, but really fun.

The first step is to take each oil blend and test it on a paper strip by placing the tip of said paper strip inside the bottle. Remember to write the number of the blend on each strip so you remember which was which. Once you have all the oils sampled try grabbing different combinations and waving them in front of you in order to get a feel of what the actual fragrance would be like. Do not skip this process. I mean it! Certain blends might smell incredibly nice on their own but combined they might not be quite as great.

Once you’ve decided which blends you are going to keep, whether two, three, four or more, place them all on a flat surface and begin mixing them by taking 0.5 ml of each using a pipette and repeating the process until you are done. However, make sure that you include the right amounts of each. There is a card with all the instruction you will need placed inside the box so no worries. Like I said before, the process is really straightforward and I just wanted to give you an idea of just how simple it is.

This is it basically. It does take some time though so do this when you are not in hurry.

My unnamed fragrance

The fragrance I created uses only three of the blends – Amber, Gourmand and Transparent and the scent I achieve is definitely unique, but still reminds me of the fragrances I do have. That is probably the case because the blends I chose for my collection are some that are included in the fragrances I do wear. However, this fragrance in particular even though it does remind me of what I wear, it has a slightly different scent, one that I am not sure how to even categorise – maybe let’s call it borderline unisex? The scent is elegant, but not feminine. The nice part is that the fragrance is high quality and has an okay lingering power. It feels just like any high end fragrance I own and for that I am really happy as this one costs way less and you get the chance to create something that is you uniquely yours.

Update: I used half the bottle in around 3 months and the rest I still have, but I have to say that it aged well. I was uncertain what would happen, however the scent is still the same.

Overall, I am in love with the bespoke collection se t from The Perfume Studio London and I will definitely get my mother one as well as I am sure she will love it. I’ve done my research on the notes she usually wears and I will try to pick similar blends so that she can create something she will like. Honestly, this is a great gift idea. It is not expensive and you cannot go wrong and that makes is so amazing. What are you waiting for? Go get your own set.
