When I saw the limited edition Nars lipsticks, I knew that I had to try them. However, choosing a lipstick after only seeing them online is no easy task, especially when so many of the 12 piece limited edition collection looked so great.
You might see a lot of beauty products here and on Instagram, but I usually take advantage of offers. Plus, you probably noticed that I rarely get luxury makeup unless they are part of a beauty gift with purchase. I don’t wear enough makeup to justify the costs, but lately Nars managed to convince me that from time to time, an investment is worth it. There is just something different about certain high end makeup products so getting a lipstick without trying it out was worth the risk. I went for it and I choose the Transeurope Express Matte Lipstick from the 12 pieced limited edition that Nars recently released.
Nars Transeurope Express Matte Lipstick Review
The Transeurope Express Matte Lipstick is one of the first lipsticks that Nars ever released. That definitely helped me make up my mind in regards to this product as I am a bit of a Nars fan.
Choosing the colour was not easy, but I do believe that I made the right decision. The Transeurope Express Matte lipstick is a berry red, slightly vampy lip colour. This is exactly what I was looking for and what I have been expecting when I invested in Glossier’s Generation G in Jam. So the lip colour is not a classic red, but a darker berry red version that one can totally pull off during the day without feeling as self conscious and it is perfect for those who love French-Girl styles.
The Nars Transeurope Express matte lipstick is as the name suggests, a matte lipstick. However, it looks more like a blotted matte rather than a traditional matte. This gives it a very interesting texture and makes the colour seem even less in your face. So for those of you who are worried about wearing red or any shade of red, you really don’t have to be with this one. Yes, the colour is pretty dark, but not as strong as you might imagine. This brings me to my next point.
The Nars matte lipstick in Transeurope Express is not that pigmented. It really is not. One layer of application makes the lipstick seem quite sheer and the colour less intense. However, you can easily build upon it by applying further layers.
Furthermore, the Nars lipstick is pretty long staying. The lipstick passed the tissue test as well as drinking water test. Some of the lipstick stayed put even after eating some non greasy food. However, part of it did come off. That is no biggie though. The matte lipstick did last longer than the typical matte, however as expected, it did not last as long as a liquid lipstick.
However, the lipstick is still some sort of matte lipstick which means that it is a bit drying. It is not as bad as with some liquid lipsticks, but there is some drying going on nonetheless.
Overall, I do not regret my decision and I am happy to have gotten the lipstick in this limited edition packaging. I absolutely love the colour, but I could do without the drying effects. This Nars lipstick is definitely a product that I see myself wearing time and time again and it is mild enough that I don’t feel self conscious wearing during the day and even in a more business-like setting.
