Scientia Peach and Glow Hydra Skin Tonic

For today’s review I decided to talk a bit about a new toner that I got from Scientia a few months ago when Cult Beauty had a beauty gift with purchase offer going.

Scientia is a skincare brand that first caught my attention on Instagram. The brand and its aesthetic looked really cool (not that is enough of a reason to invest) but it made me curious, especially as their skincare range and variety of products looked promising. As you can imagine, I was beyond happy that they launched at Cult Beauty as that made the brand more accessible to those outside the UK, myself included for now.

There are quite a few cute brands that caught my attention lately and many of them are just impossible or too difficult to shop due to all the restrictions and the old fashioned customs system in my home country… So despite my previous issues with Cult Beauty, I am glad that they make brands more easily available across the globe.

Let’s talk about the actual product now.

Scientia Peach and Glow Hydra Skin Toner Review

The aim of this Scientia Peach and Glow Hydra Skin Toner is to help you achieve glowy skin without any of the side effects such as dryness, irritation that can show up when using alternative products on the market. As such, the product contains a rather good ratio of both skin brightening ingredients as well as hydrating ones. This last part is based on my experience rather than actual scientific proof, just to avoid any misunderstandings.

The Scientia Peach and Glow Hydra Skin Toner is honestly one of the best skin toners with this particular function that I have tried so far. The toner helped brighten my skin and make it seem overall more glowy and healthy; the formula was generally more gentle. The formula was significantly more gentle than I was expecting given my experience with similar such products. That was definitely a plus, a point in this product’s favour.

Key Ingredients

  • Antioxidant: Bakuchiol, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract
  • Skin brightening: Tranexamic Acid
  • Soothing: Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract

Visible effects, gentle formula – what more can one want?

Well, not everything is as great as it sounds. The fragrance for example is one of those things. The Scientia Peach and Glow Hydra Skin Toner has a very strong “artificial” peach fragrance to it. You know that I am rarely bothered by fragrance and I can even stand some of those sweet fragrances that pretty much have no business being included in skincare, but this time it bothered me. It bothered me quite a bit. No, my skin did not react to the fragrance, but the fragrance ruined the experience of using this product from Scientia. The Scientia Peach and Glow Hydra Skin Toner has a fragrance that makes me think this product has no business being used by anyone over 20, if even that. That is a shame as the product itself is rather good.

Price wise, the product is fairly priced I would say. The product is not as affordable as other drugstore ones, but the formula does seem better and it is still affordable enough to grab every once in a while. The product does come in a 100ml bottle, but surprisingly it did last me longer than expected. It took me around a month to finish a bottle which is fair I believe.

The bottle itself is made of glass. It is heavy and feels more luxurious than expected from a brand so colourful and cute. Personally, I like glass containers, but I also have mixed feelings as glass makes them more difficult to carry around and are easier to break if you a klutz. I would not exactly classify myself as a klutz, but I am always in a rush for some unknown reason and things happen…. 🙂

Overall, I have mixed feelings about the Scientia Peach and Glow Hydra Skin Toner. While I cannot say that I loved this product, I did enjoy using it and would definitely consider repurchasing. However, the scent left a really bad taste and unless it is removed or adjusted in the future, I am less likely to repurchase regardless of how good the formula is.
