Murad Age Reform Aha/Bha Exfoliating Cleanser

A few years back when I first started investing more seriously in my skincare routine so that I could finally get rid of some nasty spots, I turned to acids. At that time they were not as popular as they are now, nor were they easily available. At least, not as far as I knew which is not very telling considering that I was a novice.

I first tried AHA to try to clear out my skin, but that was not enough. My issues required BHA more than it needed AHA so I looked for options and I was lucky enough to get a sample of the Murad Age Reform Aha/Bha Exfoliating Cleanser.

I haven’t used many products from Murad, but one that I have used time and time again is the Murad Age Reform AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser. It was that good!

About the product

The Murad Age Reform Aha/Bha Exfoliating Cleanser is a gentle cleanser that has a dual function as it also exfoliates as the name suggests. The product has a nice texture, it is a bit creamy, but not as thick and it does not feels at all like plastic. You really don’t want your liquid cleanser to feel like plastic. If it doesn’t, please do your skin a favour and invest in something else.

The cleanser from Murad is easy to use. You just need a pea sized amount and I prefer to rub it on a wet face. You can also wet your hands a bit if you feel like you need more water. After use, you can notice that your skin already seems a lot brighter and some of those blackheads are gone. With frequent application, you skin will become more glowing and cleaner. This cleanser is definitely not just a surface cleanser. It really goes deep and cleans out the junk.

I just wanted to add that the cleanser makes you skin smoother and since cleans out blackheads and exfoliates the skin, your makeup will look even better than before the morning after you begin using this product.

An another thing. I know, I know… I believe that most of you will be interested to hear that the cleanser is indeed gentle despite having some beads for mechanical exfoliation in it. The product is not harsh on the face, but I admit that while my skin is bit sensitive, it is not incredibly sensitive.

However, this is not a cleanser you want to use daily. If you use it too often you might do more harm than good to your skin. You need to let your skin recover in between ‘treatments’. If you use it too often, you skin might dry up a bit and look a bit flakey which is exactly what you want to avoid happening. Even with infrequent use, you might experience some dryness as in the product won’t leave your skin moisturised so you definitely need to use a good moisturising serum and face cream after use.

Also, while the cleanser does remove makeup, I would not use it for that. For makeup, I would go with an oil based cleanser and perhaps use this one for the second cleanse.

Overall, I am really happy with the Murad Age Reform Aha/Bha Exfoliating Cleanser and it is something that I recommend you try. I know that I will be using this one for years to come and that is saying something. From all the cleansers I tried, there haven’t been many that I liked. There are some good cleansers out there, but most are nothing special. The Murad Age Reform Aha/Bha Exfoliating Cleanser is definitely special. But I want to remind you that this is not a daily cleanser is more like a treatment cleanser, if I can call it that. However, I prefer using this product as it is more convenient and less harsh than bottled (skincare) acids.
