I am one of those people who wash their hands often. I would have said too often, but these days there is probably no such thing. For that reason, my super sensitive skin gets some pretty bad cracks. Some look like ugly rashes while some, and this is the first time I am actually saying it, look like knife cuts. They are deep and they freaking hurt. Each time my skin is on the mend, I end up doing something eg cleaning, doing the dishes and the cut like cracks open up again.
I am not saying this to scare you or anything, I just want you to understand more or less where I am coming from and what my expectations are from a hand cream. I do use specialised products these days to deal with this condition as I am not naive enough to think that a regular hand cream will mend my skin. But, I do expect a hand cream to do more than just smell nice and feel nice.
See below the review of the hand cream I am currently using, the Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey hand cream.
The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey Hand Cream Review
The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey hand cream is a product that was formulated to help those with dry and sensitive skin. The hand cream is also supposed to protect and calm the skin. There is nothing else I can add here, so let’s focus now on what the cream is actually like and not what a description tells us this product is supposed to be.
The first thing about this hand cream is that unlike the Mango one I reviewed not that long ago, this Almond Milk and Honey hand cream is significantly thicker. This hand cream is like a ticker version of a lotion, but definitely not a butter. It is almost as thick as a night cream so unlike the Mango hand cream, there is nothing gel like about this one.
The next thing I noticed was the fragrance. All Body Shop products are quite fragranced which I normally do not mind, but I know that some for you might. This hand cream with Almond Milk and Honey is also pretty fragranced, but it also smells quite nice. The scent is not super, super strong and fades a bit. It sort of smells like milk and honey, but with a bit of something else thrown in the mix which I am guessing is the Almond component. Well, the fact that it is not regular milk, but almond milk… whatever. You get it!
Let’s talk about efficiency now. Is this Almond Milk and Honey Hand cream from The Body Shop any good?
It kinda is. The cream helps me manage my skin condition in between washes and medicine use. If you have also taken up frequent hand washing, as you should have, then you could benefit from having access to such a product. The hand cream feels pretty great on my dry and super sensitive skin and as the packaging suggested, the cream also helps calm my skin. The calming effect is perhaps the most noticeable one.
I am not really sure what to say about protection. I feel like it does help a bit, but I cannot say that I noticed the same effects as I have with some medical grade beauty brands that also came out with hand creams or with specialised derma brands.
I hope that I did not gross you out with my explanation, but I felt it was important to mention where I am coming from. With that being said, this hand cream with Almond Milk and Honey from The Body Shop has my approval. I love the way this product feels on my skin and how it absorbs. The hand cream might not absorb instantly and leave a matte finish like this one, but it works and calms my skin. In addition, the cream is quite nourishing as well. These days when we wash out hands even more often than ever, this is truly a must have product. Clearly, that means that I more than recommend using it under normal conditions.
