Since by now you probably all know that CYO Cosmetics is sadly retiring from the market aka is being discontinued, I decided to start reviewing some of their products so that you can make wise investments while you still can.
The first product I want to review is the CYO Cosmetics Rainbow Warrior Eyeshadow Palette. This is one of the products that I got from Boots during their up to 70% discount on the brand.
The Rainbow Warrior eyeshadow palette from CYO Cosmetics caught my eye right away. That is quite unusual since I am not really an eyeshadow type of person so it takes quite lot to convince me to get a new palette.
I had a good feeling about the palette since I already knew how great CYO Cosmetics products were. Was I right? Read and find out.
The Rainbow Warrior Eyeshadow Palette Review
The Rainbow Warrior eyeshadow palette from CYO Cosmetics contains the following:
- 8 powder eyeshadows
- 2 cream eyeshadows
- 1 highlighter
- 1 primer
- 1 doubled ended brush
The palette caught my attention to due its beautiful shades. The palette is full of blush and nude shades which are perfect for beginners such as myself, but more than just that, they are a perfect addition to a natural makeup look. Let’s not forget that the shades are great for wearing at work as well.
Above you can see swatches of the 8 powder shadows. First I swatched the top 4 powder shadows and then the bottom 4.
The powder shadows from the CYO Cosmetics Rainbow Warrior eyeshadow palette are incredibly creamy and soft, plus they look amazing in the pan. They truly do! There was no way I could resist purchasing the palette. However, as you can see, some of the shadows did not swatch well. In fact, some shadows are barely visible. On the plus side, they can be used as a base. It is jus that those were the prettiest shades so that is disappointing regardless of what else you can do with the colours.
Furthermore, the shadows do not look that amazing on the lid either so for that reason I am truly grateful that I got it on sale. Pretty disappointing, I would say.
On the other hand, the creamy shadows look so much nicer and you can create some pretty great looks when using them by themselves, but also when combining them with the powder shadows. Just remember that cream always go on top of powder and never the other way around.
Plus, the highlighter is pretty cute and the primer seems to be working quite well. So while those last four pans do not make the Rainbow Warrior palette from CYO Cosmetics a great investment, they do make it worth keeping.
Overall, the Rainbow Palette is pretty cute, but I would definitely not buy it again. It was quite the disappointment, especially after I have gotten used to amazing products from the brand. If you can find it on sale and you do like it then maybe it is worth a try as you could have a different experience than I had, but the payoff is truly not impressive. There are some other eyeshadow palettes that are not much more expensive and that have a much better payoff.
You can buy CYO Cosmetics in Boots & Walgreens.
