Skin Store is not my to go-to retailer. If anything, it barely crossed my mind. Except at Christmas time, that is. Once per year or so, I just cannot help myself and check their offering. You see, Skin Store released quite a few interesting beauty boxes and sets over the years so they are worth a bit of attention.

Did they manage to impress on this occasion?

I would not necessarily that that I am impressed by the contents included in the Skin Store Holiday Edit in 2021, but the contents are an interesting mix. The emphasis on skincare, as it should be, is also a plus in my book. You know that I am obsessed with all things skincare much more than with makeup items.

I love the inclusion of the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm which is one the best cleansing balms I have ever tried. Personally, I tried the rose version, but the base product is the same and I have a strong feeling that this one is better as that rose scent is way too strong and not that pleasant. However, in terms of effectiveness, the cleansing balm softens and turns into oil of sorts that does a particularly good job at removing makeup and impurities. The best part though is that the cleanser leaves the skin smooth and hydrated, more so than any other cleansing product I came across.

If you’ve read my monthly challenge posts, then you might have seen that Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks made quite a frequent appearance. Spoiler alert! There is going to be a feature for the month of October as well. These eye masks are cute, but they are great for depuffing and adding a bit of hydration to the under-eye area. The masks themselves are made of some tissue fabric and they are easy to apply.

The two products above are the ones I have used extensively so I could comment on them. Other products I have some thoughts on the U Beauty Resurfacing Compound. This product was everywhere around this time last year when the brand started to become popular. I only tried the Smart Hydrator, the moisturizer from his brand and I have to say that I was not impressed in the least. I have been staring at the Resurfacing Compound for months, but I do not have high hopes for it, unfortunately. I really wish it will prove me wrong.

As far as the Barbor Ampoules go, I heard they were great from people I trust. I have been meaning to try them ampules myself as I am curious, especially since I realised just how amazing ampules can be. They seem to be way more concentrated than even serums and are more effective. It is the closest thing you can get to a miracle in a bottle where skincare is concerned.

Overall, the Skin Store Holiday Edit is a contender and a choice eyou should have a closer look at, in my opinion at least. Personally, I am most likely going to skip as this year I am trying to stick to fewer advent calendars than ever before and so far I have been doing great, but if I were going through one of my crazy advent calendar shopping sprees, then I would definitely pick this one up.
