IGK First Class Charcoal Dry Shampoo

I discovered IGK a little over one year ago and I have been a fan ever since. I tried many of their products, some that I have reviewed on this blog such as this coconut oil cleanser and the Mistress hydrating hair balm, but you know what they say…you never forget your firsts.

The first product that caught my eyes from IGK Haircare was the First Class Charcoal Dry Shampoo. Okay, so as you can probably see in these old pictures I decided to use with this post, I actually purchased more than just one product when I got my first ever IGK haircare product, but the First Class Dry Shampoo was indeed the first one I used.

Why am I talking about the dry shampoo just now if I had it for over one yeaR? Well, I had many bottles of it since I purchased the travel friendly sized one that you can see pictured and today I just purchased a new one and thought it was time to share.

I kinda gave it all away, did I not?

Well, you might still learn a few things about the product by reading the rest of this review even though you can pretty much guess what the conclusion will be if you’ve read carefully till this point.

First Class Dry Shampoo Review

The First Class Dry Shampoo from IGK caught my eyes because of its marketing. I have to admit that I am a bit of a sucker for pretty packaging and clever names. This product thicks all the boxes as far as marketing is concerned. The packaging is pretty cute and the name is also clever. The entire brand has packaging that is in the same vein as this one.

Okay, so leaving aside the packaging which is what caught my eye initially, that is not the reason why I kept on using the product.

The First Class Dry Shampoo is a charcoal based one which I found very intriguing. We all read about charcoal’s ability to attract impurities and this is no different. Okay, maybe it is slightly different as the dry shampoo is not an actual shampoo so it does not clean your hair, but the charcoal in this case does a great job at absorbing some of the impurities and oil has making your hair look cleaner.

Dry shampoo cannot replace regular shampoo, but when in a bind, it comes in handy. Okay, when you’re lazy, it comes in handy.

Lately, I have been working long hours and blogging on top of working overtime and even on some weekends thus I do not have much time for myself and washing my hair has become a bit of a drag. I know, I know! I just cannot bother to do it every couple of days and this First Class Dry shampoo allows me to go one or two more days even without a wash. I know it sounds pretty bad, but when you can barely keep your eyes open, it is a lifesaver.

So we have pretty packaging and effectiveness, but what makes the dry shampoo stand out is the fact that the shampoo does not cast a white shadow. This dry shampoo is pretty much invisible on my dark brunette locks. I don’t really have to worry about ending up with white spots on my head.

All good, but the best thing about the dry shampoo is the fact that it does not weight down your hair. You can barely feel the product on and it does not cause hair loss as much as other dry shampoos do. There is less buildup so you do not end up suffocating your hair with lots of product. That is the only reason why I allow myself to use this dry shampoo once per week or so.

You might not end up with the amount of volume other dry shampoos can create, also you need to spend a bit more for this product, but given the fact that you don’t end up loosing your hair and the shampoo is effective without casting a white shadow makes this dry shampoo from IGK a must buy as far as I am concerned. I am currently on my fourth full sized bottle and I do not see myself giving up on it anytime soon. You do get a bit of a texture/volume from the product though. Not a lot, but there is something going on there.

How do I apply the First Class Dry Shampoo

Application is pretty straight forward so here I wanna talk a bit more about how I apply the dry shampoo. The best way to apply the dry shampoo is the same as you would any other. The night before you know you will probably need it is the best time to apply it. You don’t want to apply dry shampoo on really gross looking hair as you won’t obtain the best results. However, you can do that if you forgot to apply the dry shampoo before or you were too lazy. Trust me, it happens to the best of us!

You just apply the dry shampoo and then let it set for a minute or two and then you rub it all over so you get it to absorb as much fo the oiliness and impurities as possible. That is all. However, do remember that the moment of application can have an impact on the product’s effectiveness.
