Drunk Elephant & Chris McMillan Cocomino™ Glossing Shampoo

Hey guys! It is definitely good to be back even if a year older. Today I am going to review one product that I have been using for a few weeks now and that is the Drunk Elephant & Chris McMillan Cocomino Glossing Shampoo. I guess this is my first ever Drunk Elephant review, no? How can that be!

Anyways, here are my thoughts.

Drunk Elephant & Chris McMillan Cocomino Glossing Shampoo Review

The Drunk Elephant Cocomino™ Glossing Shampoo is the only shampoo from the brand and the product is part of the brand’s new body and hair care range. Okay, not so new anymore, but definitely not old either.

When it comes to Drunk Elephant I have my doubts. Despite using their products for over a year, I have no idea what to think as some of their products are intriguing, other are good and other are, let’s say, not so good.

I was really curious to try the new range of products to be honest. The body and haircare range I am more likely to believe that it could be worth your money than I am most of their skincare products. It is a bit strange, I know, but I have tried most of their skincare range so there is that.

The Cocomino™ Glossing Shampoo is not super fragranced. That is the first thing you notice about the product, besides the typical Drunk Elephant package design of course. There is a scent there, but it is not as strong as in most other shampoos on the market, drugstore or high end. The scent itself is hard to describe so please do not ask me to do that. I am not entirely sure whether the scent is coconut or something else you might find in a kitchen. The scent is intriguing though as I cannot figure it out and yet I have encountered a similar fragrance before. It might a version of coconut as after all…but there is something else that modifies the fragrance. That is my opinion.

Now comes the strange part. In terms of texture, the shampoo from Drunk Elephant is very liquid. It is almost like a slightly watered down version of coconut oil. This is definitely not something I have encountered in shampoos before. Strangely, I do not mind. It definitely makes the product easier to get out of the bottle, but you might also lose the product if you apply it into the palm of your hand and not directly into your hair. It depends on how fast you are.

As for the effects, my very flat and thin hair does not hate the Cocomino™ shampoo. I did not see this one coming, did you? Yes, the glossing shampoo makes my hair glossier than usual. You can tell by the way it captures light, but despite this fact, the shampoo does not leave my hair looking like I just got licked by a cow. You what what I mean, right? The Cocomino™ shampoo actually leaves my hair a tiny bit fluffy. That is a win in my book. Under normal circumstances, I cannot use a glossing shampoo as they usually take away any volume I might get and that is a big no in my book. My hair is flat enough as it is, no need to make it worse, you know?

So far I got 7 uses out of my mini and I am guessing I might get one more, but not sure if it will be enough. Just to give you an indication. Also, I know what I said at the start of this article and that is no lie, but I did something bad and used the mini interchangeably with my full sized bottle. However, the 7 uses are only for the mini as I made sure to count. Hope this is clear now. I’ve been bad, I know!

Overall, the Cocomino™ Glossing Shampoo from Drunk Elephant is surprisingly good. I honestly did not expected it even though I hoped it would be. I cannot say that it is my favourite shampoo to date, but it it a contender.
