As you may know, I started using Oh My Cream beauty products when I got their beauty advent calendar late last year. I had known about the brand, but I did not have an incentive, so to speak, to invest into the brand and give it a try until they came out with their vanity bag advent calendar.
Don’t get me wrong. There are many interesting brands and products to choose from on the retailer’s website, however I am always a bit reluctant to try new stores. I guess that is pretty normal. However, I decided to take a risk and it paid off. Here are the details on what my first experience looked like.
Today, I want to talk about on of the French retailer’s own brand products and that is the Oh My Cream Cleansing Emulsion.
Oh My Cream Cleansing Emulsion Review
With so many cleansers on the market, it is really difficult to pick one. However, it is even more difficult to find one you really like. I don’t know about you, but I have a huge HN gift box filled with cleansers and I haven’t managed to stick to one until I finished it which is why they are still around. Okay, some haven’t been used at all, but most of them have and they are still there. Cleansing is not my favourite part of the process, but it is a necessary one. I know, I know. I do not skip it, but I find it a bit unpleasant so finding the right cleanser is a really important step. I found my “right now” cleansers rather than my “one” so far. As in, I came across some good ones, but not one I wish to stick to for the rest of my life. Okay, what are we talking about here? It looks to me like we were talking soulmates, but no. I am still referring to cleansers 😀 .
When I got the Oh My Cream cleanser I was excited. I had no experience with the brand before, also it is not something I can just go out and pick up in store. Well, not unless you live in France and in a city that does have an Oh My Cream shop. I was open to the idea of trying a new cleanser. I already had it so… I had nothing to lose basically. Oh did I mention? The products carried by the retailer and including their in-house branded ones are clean. So those of you who only purchase clean beauty items will appreciate this tidbit.
I had no expectations form this product which is why I guess it surprised me in a good way rather than a bad way. The Cleansing Emulsion from Oh My Cream is a lotion like cleanser. It is not as heavy as a cream, but not entirely milky either. So yes, that is what I believe it looks like the most – a lotion. It feel super nice on your fingers and it is easy to use. You just need to gently rub it all over your skin and wash it off. The product comes off easily and it does not generate huge amount of foam. It barely produced any foam which is nice. No risk of getting product into your nose.
The Oh My Cream Cleansing Emulsion is pretty much the perfect to go to cleanser out there, at least from all that I tried. It might not do anything too special, but it does exactly what it needs to – it cleanses your face. The Oh My Cream Cleansing Emulsion removes most bits of makeup with ease and without you needing to rub at your skin and it removes any dirt. It is perfect for when you do not need a heavy duty cleanser or one you can use for your first cleanse. It is 100% better than the Milky Cleanser from Glossier IMO (FYI, in case any of you are still using that one). You cannot even compare the two really.
However, the Oh My Cream Cleansing Emulsion not only cleanses your skin, but it does so in a way that leaves it feeling soft and it does not strip it, leaving it uncomfortable. No, there is none of that going on here. The skin feels pretty comfortable after using this cleanser.
Another thing you need to know is that there the product is scented. The scent is nice and it is not overpowering. It does not smell artificial, but it is there. There are several ingredients, including Linalool and Citronellol which play a role in giving the product its fragrance, but they are also ingredients which could lead to allergic reactions in some people.
Look, I am not going to say that this is the best cleanser on the market because it is most likely not. It is a good cleanser, without a doubt. However, I would not go about throwing every other product away just yet. This cleanser is really good and it is pretty perfect for the days you are staying in or do not apply much makeup. It is the perfect basic product, but every once in a while a girl does need something “extra”. I highly recommend the product though.
