I am back with a new review, and this time I am covering a type of product that I am sure that I have not covered before on this blog, or even if I have, it has been way too long since the last time I did so. As you can tell from the title, today I wanted to talk about a hair mask and one from Biogeo at that. It seems fitting as Briogeo is probably the queen(king?) of hair masks.
Before dwelling into the review, the main reason why I do not often share haircare masks or at all is because there haven’t been many that I enjoyed using. Plus, I don’t generally use them in the traditional way but more on that later.
Briogeo Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfood Mask Review
The first I noticed about this mask from Biogeo was the scent and texture. Having never used anything from this particular range before I was quite surprised. The Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado + Kiwi Moisture Superfood Mask has quite a unique texture. The texture is very fruit mousse-like mixed with a bit of whip cream. That is at least how I perceived it. Okay, maybe the better word to describe this mask would be smoothie-like. The mask is soft and feels very nice.
Fragrance-wise, the scent is also pretty nice. It is a bit fruity, but not overly so. It does not smell cheap and it does not linger. They’ve done a great job in regards to this aspect.
How to use the Briogeo Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfood Mask
After shampooing, massage the mask into the hair from mid-lengths to ends. Leave in for five or 10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. The mask can also be used instead of a conditioner. Furthermore, it can be used once or twice per week with no issue.
At least this is the recommended use.

Is the Briogeo Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfood Mask effective?
The short answer is yes, but before we discuss that further, we need to cover a bit more about what this mask is supposed to be doing.
The Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfood Mask is supposed to deeply hydrate dry hair. It is also meant to enhance softness and smoothness while being enriched with vitamins and minerals. The mask is clean (as it contains no harsh chemicals) and the ingredients are naturally derived.
As I have mentioned above, the mask does indeed do all of these things. I noticed right from the first time I used the mask that my hair is significantly less brittle and more hydrated. In addition, my hair did look smoother and shinier. All good in theory.
A bit more information about how I used the Briogeo Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfood Mask and made it work for me
I already brought this up in the intro and this case is no different from others, not really. I’ve said that I do not tend to use hair masks quite as they are intended. The reason for that is that when I usually apply a mask after shampooing, my hair either remains a tad greasy no matter how much I rinse it or it becomes greasier way faster than it already does. This is a long-term issue that I have been facing which only seems to be getting worse with time. Since I am already washing my hair more often than I would like, I started using hair masks a bit differently.
Instead of applying a hair mask at the end and rising it properly, I am more inclined to use them before shampooing. The results are still visible even if at a lower intensity, but at least it does not make my hair desperate for a wash quicker than normal.
I tested the Briogeo Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfood Mask to see whether it could work if used as indicated, if it could work for me personally, that is. To my surprise, the results were not that bad. This is a mask I might just be able to use as indicated, but I did notice that my hair became dirtier faster, but not as fast as with other masks that I tried before. It works this way quite well if I just stay in or don’t have any major plans. Otherwise, I do prefer the results of this mask when using it pre-shampoo. Not only does my hair stay clean for longer, but it also becomes less soft (maintains more volume) and still benefits from that extra moisture given by the mask.
This is a pretty weird usage, but for me, it works better this way. For you, however, it might work better if applied as indicated. I guess it comes down to hair type and texture.
Overall, I did enjoy this hair mask from Briogeo and would be happy to try it for longer aka in a full-size version. This is probably the best you will ever get from me in regards to hair masks!

http://www.venusianglow.com/2013/04/washing-hair-with-condition-shampoo.html this is actually quite a popular method around here
I still haven’t tried it properly though, but maybe finally next week. There’s also co-wash where you wash your hair with a conditioner that’s made for that, supposed to be very moisturizing. I’ve got it but haven’t used yet, so can’t advise
That is quite interesting. I never thought of it quite like that. I tried the oil cleanser from IGK (reviewed somewhere on this blog l) which was an interesting choice of haircare product but also tried a conditioner cowash a few months ago. It was the worst thing I ever tried. Hope it works better for you, but the one I got from L’Oréal left my hair dirtier than before I washed it.
