I am back with a new review. Today we are going to talk about the 6th product from the Niche Beauty Advent Calendar and that is the Westman Atelier Lit Up Highlighter stick.
This is my first ever Westman Atelier product and I did not know much about the brand before finding the product in the calendar. This was before the brand launched at Cult Beauty. All I knew was from what I had seen on Instagram here and there, but never truly paid attention to the details. There are enough brands I am curious about and cannot get my hands on…. Anyway, the point is that I had no expectations. I really had no idea what I would find once I tried the highlighter from Westman Atelier.

Westman Atelier Highlight Stick Review
The Westman Atelier Highlight Stick catches ones attention from the moment you first put your hands on it. The outer packing is simple and yet beautiful and the actual product is gorgeous. The stick comes in a rather heavy, smooth and matte stick container. It feels nice in the palm of my hand. As you open it, you can feel that soft magnetic click. Despite the rather simple design, the packaging scream luxury and expensive. There is no denying it.
As you remove the cap, you cannot help but notice the beautiful and surprisingly thinner highlighter stick. The product is glowing, but without any of that fake glittery sh*t. It is more like a glassy, elegant sort of glow and then my hopes went up. It looked too gorgeous to be something one simply throws in a drawer and never uses.
The Highlighter Stick from Westman Atelier has a clean formula with a minimal number of ingredients. There are no ingredients that raise concerns as fast as I can tell. Furthermore, the product is formulated without parabens, alcohol, silicones or sulphates. There are known ingredients recognised by the EU that they could lead contribute to allergic reactions and none that are known to cause fungal acne flareups. Even better, the Westman Atelier Highlight Stick even contains Titanium Dioxide which offers a bit of UV protection suitable even for those with sensitive skin.
As for how it looks on the skin, the Highlighter Stick in Lit Up has a gel like texture and it offers a wet sort of look. It adds a bit of something to a makeup look without being too obvious or fake. It creates that natural, healthy glow but takes it up a notch to two. The shade “Lit UP” looks like it might offer a more purplish glow at times, but I believe it is more transparent than anything else. It really depends on how the light hits. However, I would say that it is a product you can get away with wearing nearly anywhere without it being too obvious. The amount of highlighter is also a factor though.
Honestly, I am not even sure how you should apply it to achieve the best results. It really depends on the results you wish to obtain. Near the lips, I noticed that a tap with the stick itself is enough. The effect is just enough, it doe snot look fake and it adds that little something. If you tap your checks, you might need to blend it a bit using your fingers or a sponge. It is easy to blend though. If you tried something different that provided incredible results, do let us know in a comment below!
Is the product worth it though? It really depends on how much you are willing to spend on a highlighter. This is one of the most beautiful highlighters I have ever seen and I do have a drawer full of them. It is elegant and looks amazing on the skin while highlighting your best features. The product will last you a while. It is pretty pricey though. Another product that is similar to this one is the MakeTheMake Highlight Duo. That one is a bit more affordable, but they are not identical. I cannot believe I am saying this, but I am sort of leaning towards the Westman Atelier one as this one is slightly less sticky despite the fact that neither are really sticky.
I cannot believe I am doing this, but I actually recommend the Westman Atelier Highlight Stick. It is beautiful and feels nice on the skin. Furthermore, this is a product you can actually wear even if you have a mask on, but don’t feel like you have to. Just in case you want to switch things up a bit.
