My comments on the Niche Beauty Advent Calendar

As you can see and as I mentioned above, Niche Beauty seems to have kept the same calendar format as last year. This is a bit disappointing as if you recall the calendar consisted of a white box with a label on it and inside there were 24 pouches. The calendar was practical of course, but it lacked that special Christmas festive feeling. Nothing seems to have changed.

Last year, I truly liked and enjoyed the calendar but thought that maybe it was due to the fact that the calendar was new to me so there was an extra level of excitement there. You can read the review of the previous advent calendar edition here if you are interested. But no, that is not the case as this year I am just in awe of the calendar as I was previously. While I cannot claim that I want to try every single product from the calendar badly or that I even like all of them, I am impressed with the selection of products in the sense that these are products that other retailers have not included in their offerings. There is a bit too much makeup for my taste, but the calendar overall seems pretty balanced and the inclusion of super high-end brands as well as some that tend to go more into the wellness area is something that can not be ignored.

Specifically about the products, well Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant is an okay product, but not one I am obsessed with so far. I went through a mini and I still have the full size to get through, but I am not crazy about it as some other influencers and people from the beauty industry tend to be. Everyone kept talking about this product for a while there, but personally, I was not that impressed.

I haven’t tried the Gisou Honey Infused Hair Oil, but this is the brand’s hero product. I only used their primer and shampoo and got along with both pretty well. the brand is something else and truly different from other haircare brands out there. It is worth a shot IMO. While it won’t help us achieve such great hair as that of the founder, the product definitely added some volume and especially fullness and glossiness to my hair without weighing it down.

The Dr Levy Eye Booster Concentrate is a product I am obsessed with. This eye booster serum led to immediate results and thicken the skin underneath my eyes considerably thus making it less sensitive to cold weather. The skin also felt smoother and overall looked better without the need for invasive procedures.

Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt is a product that I enjoy using quite a lot. it does an amazing job at cleansing both hair and scalp without being rough on the scalp. However, it takes a while to get used to it and learn the perfect water/product ratio. You really do not need a lot of product, but you do need lots of water when using it. It also leaves the hair a bit coarse and dry so some treatment or at least conditioner is advised from my experience.

Overall, while I am probably going to skip this calendar in 2021 as I have other priorities, this is a calendar I would definitely put on my shopping list. I am impressed by the quality and selection of products included in this calendar. Honest! I recommend giving the calendar a shot.

  1. Ah, I’m also not that hyped. Similarly to you, I think the selection is nice and all but I don’t feel like I’d be missing out if I don’t get. Doesn’t spark joy, really. Which is good, because 300 EUR makes it one of the more expensive ones.

    1. Yeah…it is expensive in general and more so when I think about it in different terms. when I think it is like 1/4 of a new phone for me and haven’t updated in 3 years.. makes me reconsider. It seems even more expensive. Plus everything else 🙁 it is truly a nice calendar but maybe not this time.

  2. I ended up ordering this calender when they 15% discount. As I already regularly use the Shani Dardan Retinol Reform and the Pai cleansing oil, besides, Dr Levy’s Eye Booster is my favorite eye product, so I decided the calendar was worth its price. After having used many products I can conclude that I’m super happy with my purchase. Many of the products are fabolous and luxurious, but I wouldn’t have had the chance to try them otherwise. My favorites are:
    – Hybrid Cream Blush
    – Essence Moonlighter Cushion – best highlighter I ever used which might be due to the fact that I usually prefer cream products but I only own powder highlighters
    – the deborah Lippmann nailpolish – I have totally fallen in love with this brand and got a lot of compliments on my nails
    – the Gisou hair oil
    – Hourglass mascara
    – Irene Forte lipbalm
The other products are also really nice.

    1. glad you are enjoying your purchase! thank you for sharing your thoughts on some of the products. that is very helpful! I will definitely have a look into the hair oil as I do like Gisou quite a bit.
