As I predicted in July’s post, going out on the first day of the month did indeed result in a beauty purchase. However, to my surprise and to everyone else’s I guess, I stayed out of trouble and avoided Sephora and Douglas which would have resulted in a significant damage. Instead, I went to dm to get some kitchen towels (which I did not find) and got the last bottle of my favourite not quite soap from Ziaja. So that was a good start, now let’s see if that lasted…

Before we move onto the comments, let’s do the math.
-£714.77 (From July) – £276.97 (August’s Spending) + £70.39 (August’s Allowance from empties) + £41( Allowance From Posts) = -£880.35
Okay, so the numbers are looking worse and worse. However, personally I am even more proud of this month’s results than the previous month despite having spent a bit more, the allowance from empties as well as the one from posts was higher. I did good in this regard. I finished more products and even managed to squeeze more reviews in between all those beauty advent calendar launch information which I do not count towards my goal.
You might wonder why I even bother since I went off the rails a while back. Well, I bother because I do want to improve and if I give up now, I might never manage to get back on track. However, this month was slightly different in terms of spending. The spending was not caused by stress, not really.
For the first time since February, I placed a few orders in the UK and I am having my stuff forwarded to where I am. To think I struggled to get accustomed to living in London…now I kinda miss my life there and little bits can help. Since I was given the opportunity, I did take a bit advantage and placed an order at Asos, Boots and of course Beauty Pie. Asos and Boots were not urgent, but Beauty Pie kinda was.
My membership balance at Beauty Pie was kinda hight and I assumed I would use it, but then I kept the membership and it kept growing. I reached a level which I can honestly not spend as I don’t have enough stuff that I want nor do I feel comfortable placing a several hundred pounds order at one time. Now, with this order, I nearly halved it and perhaps next month I will be able to spend a similar amount so that I can finally let go of it. I have such a high balance at the moment that I honestly cannot bring myself to let go of. That was a lot of money spent on the memberships that until this point I did not even realise I did not account for above. However, I did took the membership price into account above so hopefully that will balance things. Will try to do better next year when I adjust the rules based on this year’s learnings. If you have no clue what I am talking about, you can learn here everything you need to know about Beauty Pie
If it were not for the UK orders, my results would have looked slightly better. It is what it is. I had no idea when I will have the chance to place another order so I did take advantage. I do have a few things left in my UK storage that needs to be forward but all beauty already purchased is accounted for above. I might get a few more things next month, but we will see then. These are purchases I can honestly say that I do not regret one bit.
Also, I am incredibly happy with myself right now as I managed to skip on around 4 beauty gifts with purchase and a whole lot of appealing advent calendars. On the calendars front, the situation is still in question as I sill have time, but at least I did not get the goody bags.
How did you do in August?
Also, did you know that my ultimate beauty goal is to be able to fit all my beauty products in one box? It seems I am doing the opposite, but I am trying. I decided on this in August as I announced it on my Instagram challenge – do follow me on IG so that you do not miss out on “exclusive” news.
